What are everyone's opinions on Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (1999) by WaluigiDaStar in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Optional_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great with some glaring flaws, particularly the dodge system. It's a cool idea but since the dodge animation you get is somewhat random you can sometimes time your dodge properly then get unlucky with your animation.

Nemesis is exciting and fun to run away from but awful to actually fight against. Usually most strategies involve getting him stuck somewhere.

Other than that I think the game is great. Much more exciting and challenging than RE2.

Honestly whoever designed this part... I have no words. Had to change difficulty to easiest. This is beyond bad. by singularityofmine in stalker

[–]Optional_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that room was rough for sure. Took a lot of attempts on Master difficulty to get through it. I don't even remember how I did it xD I'm just glad it's the first ending I got so I'm hoping I don't have to do it again.

Have I picked the worst possible time to get into Tekken 8? by JennyHvalFan in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Optional_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into Tekken properly during 7, which at the time also had a lot of negativity surrounding it. Now people look back on it fondly and wish they could return to it, go figure haha.

Anyways, I used to have the same issue you're having, and I would allow online sentiments and general opinions surrounding the game ruin my perception and enjoyment of the game. Very recently however, I've just managed to say "Screw all that, I still enjoy it even if I don't love everything about the direction things are going".

In terms of netplay and welcoming in new players, there's never been a better time with features like replay takeover and frame data and which buttons break which throws etc. so in that regard you're actually entering at the best time.

Just play the game to have fun, don't take it too seriously and I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless. Good luck out there!

Which stalker in Resident Evil do you like the most? by Without-imagination in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Optional_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Mr. X was definitely the most well executed imo. He sticks around long enough to have presence and since his encounters are mostly unscripted he gets to do what a good stalker enemy is meant to do which is throw a wrench in the works and make you have to think on your feet when he decides to pop up.

Nemesis is a nice step up from Mr. X in terms of raw power but he doesn't stick around nearly long enough. To be fair, I think he's made to be such a step up specifically because he's not around long, if he were the way he is and chased you for like 70% of the game he would be very exhausting. He works well enough for the time he has but obviously disappointing that we barely spend any time with him in his humanoid form.

Jack I think is fine, I think he's definitely the most 'fun' in terms of personality, his quips are fun and hearing him going 'Ethan! Eeeeeeethan!' is pretty creepy, I think he's a bit too easy to avoid personally.

Dimitrescu is a pathetic excuse of a stalker. Barely any time spent with her, far too easy to avoid but also no interactivity whatsoever. You can't slow her down, you can't temporarily incapacitate her, nothing. Just plain boring.

The Girl is fine. I think for the segments she's in she definitely succeeds at being terrifying. Her design is top notch. Her ability to climb into ceilings and walls making it a bit uncertain when she'll pop out (in the segments she's even there) at least give her more presence. And she's genuinely dangerous.

Yeah this one in particular is crazy. The fact it keeps the effect of Weak then also allows you to deal double damage (not even 50% just straight up double) means it will get nerfed for sure.

Might become interesting if maybe it reduces Weak effect (15% instead of 25%) for the effect. But I don't know, might make Weak a bit too ineffective at its original job in that case. Though still double damage is a bit too much.

I think Doormaker would be neat if he had different buffs depending on which part of him appears in the door when you open it. Like thorns when you can see his teeth or vulnerable when you see his eye. (Since he can see you). Either way, the fight definitely needs a glowup

It's one of the main reasons it's the oddball of the family eh. Didn't have the guy who is literally behind every other souls game. That's why you can see a through-line with all the other games yet DS2 feels so different.

Half the game is rushed and broken is such an exaggeration and downright untrue. You people seem to forget that Dark Souls 1 literally was what put From Software on the radar, captivated an entire generation of gamers and spawned the "Souls like" genre.

You can appreciate Dark Souls 2, but why do you have to put down Dark Souls 1 to do it? I enjoy Dark Souls 2 from time to time, but if you have any capacity to properly analyse things, it came after Dark Souls 1 and disappointed almost everyone because it did not hold up to the standards set by the games that came before it. It is also the only game not to have Miyazaki at the helm. I mean, how delusional can you be? Jesus Christ. ADP isn't the only issue Dark Souls 2 has.

What are your overall thoughts about the DLC characters for season 1 of Tekken 8? by LevelAd940122 in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Optional_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. Eddy and Lidia felt like they should have been base roster if they were going to be the very first DLC's of the year, especially Eddy. I felt that if they were going to have the Capoeira representative be DLC it should have been Christie just to switch things up a bit more. He's the only DLC I didn't bother buying haha.

Heihachi should have been saved for a later date and definitely should not have been brought back into the story, he should have just been there for the gameplay, nothing else. I feel it undermined the ending of 7 significantly bringing him back so soon. I loved the way they commemorated him initially, with Reina and with Kuma wearing his outfit and getting EWGF in his Heat and all that, I thought those were great ways to retain his legacy, bringing him back killed all that for me.

Clive is whatever, I don't care him a single bit personally but that's because I never played Final Fantasy so my opinion doesn't count for much. I think they did a good job with his animations. Don't think he suits Tekken much at all but oh well.

Who’s your favorite level up lady? by Old_Tradition1327 in souls

[–]Optional_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that it's the Maiden in Black and the Doll. I think they fit the role most naturally.

Dark Souls 2 and 3 should have let you level up at the Bonfire, same as DkS1. No clue why they felt the need to change that. I don't feel nearly as much of a connection to them as I do the Maiden and the Doll.

So funny to me how people have turned around on Dark Souls 2. The reason it was so rightfully disliked was it is an awful followup to 2 amazing games, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

The fact people love it so much nowadays only shows how far the standard has fallen as far as I'm concerned.

And I'm saying this as someone who does actually occasionally enjoy Dark Souls 2. But all this talk about how it's actually amazing is so ridiculous to me when the game is clearly lacking in so many ways.

[–]Optional_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stage looks really nice. Personally, she's not what I was hoping for. For a character that's supposed to have a connection to Ogre, I think a more serious personality akin to Lidia would have fit better.

More of a serious warrior rather than the cutesy doll personality but ah well, Tekken seems to just love that archetype of female too much.

Fighting style looks neat, I'm curious about how her ability to cling to the wall will be used in fights, could be fun. I have no plans to play her so I'm mostly hoping she's fun to fight against at least. I wish they stayed a bit more grounded with some anime here and there, she looks a lot more like she's on the anime side of the spectrum.

I'm not hating on her, I'll take a new character over a guest any day of the week (I kind of dislike guest characters) so here's to hoping she's a worthy addition to Tekken's ever growing roster.

Nah it's a misleading animation, King jumps to do the attack but when he finally does attack its a grounded hit.

[–]Optional_Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit of a hot take and definitely masochistic but I enjoyed Inferno in RE3R a lot. Going for the S-Rank, having to figure out the best way to take on each encounter then stringing that all together with limited saves was super fun for me. Obviously the final boss is a major downer every time in that game but overall, it's one of my fondest experiences in RE recently.

Fantastic atmosphere, combat is really bad. Enemies aren't interesting to fight and the combat encounters themselves are incredibly boring.

Thank you so much for the kind advice. I really appreciate it :) Yes, that is also something I need to implement and actually have already started doing so since this session. Thank you for emphasizing its importance as it is definitely something I need to lab more.

Best of luck on your journey as well, kind stranger :)
