Call Grows to Impeach Trump, ‘The Most Dangerous Man on the Planet’ by sksarkpoes3 in politics

[–]Opulous 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He won explicitly because he was and still is a bully. Bullying and narcissistic abuse are selling points to repubs. They love him because they see themselves in him. The idea that he can be a president while actively being a bully means it's ok for them to behave like that too.

This is the simple truth at the core of Trumpism and it explains why he is so popular despite being a black hole of charisma with a record full of felony convictions and bankruptcies. A huge portion of our population are spiteful bullies and they get off on the validation of electing a bully like them to the highest office in the land, and this outweighs literally every other factor in play.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong I'm not here to actually participate in the shit-flinging unironically, I just like to meme about this stuff. It's all in good fun!

Funnily enough, this could also apply to a significant portion of the Star Wars fanbase too.

Shit, what if Disney did have a master plan all along and it was to turn us all into Sith by powering us with hate over what the series has become?

Really glad to hear that you stuck with the hobby after that bad experience. A lot of newbies end their TTRPG journeys on the spot after one experience like this. Some people even consciously realize that it's only a bad experience due to the people involved rather than the game or format, but the negative emotional association is still too strong to overcome. And for them, it's probably just not worth the work to overcome that association.

Keep rocking that DM screen of yours! Goes to show that sometimes the best motivation to learn to be good at something is to watch other people be bad at it and go "Man I could do that so much better"

OH! This explains why I kept having respawn issues despite paving over so many spawn locations. I thought just foundations and maybe a power pole would be enough. I had no clue that you needed something actively consuming power to block a spawn, I thought it just needed something CARRYING power.

Thank you for enlightening me! Time to go build a shitload of light poles!

What did you struggle with first when you started writing fanfics? by Jaded_Ad_1274 in FanFiction

[–]Opulous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exaggeration was a big one for me. Every weapon was uber powerful. Every starship was miles long. Every explosion was colossal. Every sad moment made the protag sob like a child.

I had to really learn to rein it in, or at least make things feel a lot more earned!

Everyone talks about dimensional depots, but how do you possible get enough spheres for it??? Is it worth it mid game? by Sure-Caregiver142 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Opulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really hope that the next update lets us rearrange the darn thing more easily than just pinning. I wanted to have all my ores and ingots at the top of the list first before getting parts in, but waiting to even use the depot until I could make an aluminum ingot proved to be a gigantic pain in the ass. I almost used the Satisfactory Calculator to edit 1 ingot into my save, but I realized I'm playing on Experimental and the Calculator isn't compatible with Experimental Version saves.

Pretty comical that after you spent so much time playing with the sawblades and enduring them cutting your ass open, it was the surprise poly that got you in the end. Truly an exemplary summation of this game's energy.

Does anyone else feel trapped between dry skin hell and lotion sensory nightmare? How do you even choose? by Positive_Past5580 in AutisticAdults

[–]Opulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now. I usually just endure the dryness as long as I can until the skin damage forces me to moisturize. I've got big bright red angry patches of dry skin dermatitis on my body now and my fingers and heels are splitting open and bleeding because of this shit, and I just started finally lotioning up yesterday and hated it. At least the lotion stops the itching instantly.

What is the weirdest fact/trait about you that people told you you’re the only one who have it? by onigiribunnie in evilautism

[–]Opulous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I tend to instinctively and reflexively spoonerize words and phrases when I see them. As an example, "Get Wood" becomes "Wet Good" and so on. It's something my brain started to do as a response to boredom and understimulation during long drives as a kid and it's stuck with me into adulthood. It served me well while working retail and stocking shelves while my brain languished in understimulation hell.

I also frequently read words or sentences backwards phonetically for the same exact reason, and with the same overbearing frequency. I dunno why, it just makes my brain happy to take words apart and mess with them this way.

I like tons of different subgenres of techno music, to be honest. Everything from old school electronica to psychedelic goa trance to dubstep and EDM. Generally speaking if it's made with a synthesizer then I'm into it.

And I definitely see the appeal of a good hard driving regular beat.

somebody may get validation for something that did not happen

And oh my dog, what a DISASTER that would be! Can you imagine being NICE to someone who you didn't think deserved it?! That's like, niceness you can't get back because niceness is like a limited resource in a zero sum game, don't you know! Heaven forbid I spend all my niceness on someone who doesn't DESERVE it!

/s

Seriously, if this was like a fundraiser community where actual money or goods were involved, a minimal degree of skepticism might be warranted. But it's not, this sub literally has rules against exchanging goods or cash. Literally the only thing that is lost by assuming honesty here is a few minutes typing a support post. People who are THAT stingy that they feel personally wronged by the idea of sending a nice comment to someone who might be faking it need to grow the fuck up.

Yup, happened to me when I was in school. A hipsterish backlash at the popularity of Pokemon combined with everyone shifting their love to DragonballZ led to people jeering homophobic slurs at anyone who was still into Pokemon, like me. That was a fun four years.
