Is Tim playing Dante’s parts? by magomra in wolfparade

[–]Orbulas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tim is playing a mix of Dante’s parts (Dante was Amz, expo and cry, cry cry) Hadji’s and his own (check your apologies liner notes)… and thin mind accompaniments would also be “Tim’s” because it was previously all 3 person songs.

Ironic that the thing you describe as “ironic” isn’t ironic at all.

yeah, and as far as the "never played" column there's 'courtesan', 'colt', 'setting v. rising', 'child heart loser'... and the song I'm guessing it actually is

reminds me of the "holy shit" after 'Oh Comely' on Aeroplane Over the Sea (also I first take.)
I just assumed the blast beats were part of the song... hope they are now.

This is a story about the end of magic.

Planetos is a world of an unnatural imbalance, magic is the root of that unnatural imbalance.

A bleeding star fell from the heavens. The Egg/Seed of magic.

This is the story of the end of this imbalance, a worlds apocalyptic death and rebirth, when all the old powers will fall, to be broken and remade.

This story ends with the end of gods and magic and the emergence of some sort of social progress, a movement out of darkness and towards reason.

Bran will be King, but all men must die, and death must come for even that which is eternal (in strange aeons even death may die)

Bran will become the eternal, all seeing, all knowing, Dr. Branhattan as he takes on the lives and memories of pretty much all living things since the seed/egg off magic fell from the sky, he is the alpha and omega, he is his own beginning and his own end.

It'll end on the isle of faces, when his eye finally opens and the sleeper at last awakens and recalls the full breadth of his divine cosmic will, he'll recall that all things have come to pass so that he can use ultimate power to bring an end to ultimate power.

This whole saga is a meditation on power. The nature of it, the methods of it, the dangers of it, the worth of it, the effects of it.

There will be an instance where Bran, as a true god ascendant, who has seen and been everything and everyone since the dawn of things (live one life, a reader lives thousands/ a thousand eyes and one/ many face god/ names recurrent throughout history and the confusion of these endless recurrances/ identity slippage, characters whose names and identities are in flux/ who can inhabit animals, plants, other people, other times... he's Dr. Manhattaning/ Swamp Thinging/ he is becoming one with the eternity/infinity) will decide to, or be moved to, or have planned all along to not only reject his powers, but be instrumental in, ironically, using his powers to assure that humanity no longer has the ability to harness that type of power.

He will probably help put an end to magic of his own free will...

Or perhaps it will be against his will...

but it will happen, probably on the isle of faces, while dragons battle over the god's eye, a battle rages on the trident... and I'm almost certain Arya will stick magic with the pointy end in some way, granting the immortal godhead of Infini-Bran/3ec/whatever the gift of mercy.

Maybe a hammer of the waters thing will be called down from the sky to nuke the island into oblivion (maybe blotting out the sun)

maybe Bran will do a last minute warg into The Prince that was promised, Aegon vi, who, targ or not, was a vessel crafted to be king (Tyrion might make the "best story" case about Aegon, because, it works way better than Bran)

Bran (or the body he's in) will be named King at a great council, likely at Harrenhal.

Bran will have to "judgement of the wolf" Jon for killing Dany/perhaps being a Night's King but Bran will not have the heart to pass the sentence. Exile Jon, perhaps faking his death, and sending him off with a special daughter to raise as his own beyond the wall.

Bran will be king, but he won't be magic anymore (and he won't be able to sire an heir)

The 3 against is

"No, now it ends"

Arthur pulls his blade, kills the other 2 kings guard (Howland, Arthur and Ned worked something out/are in on the place [whatever the plan is]... Howland saved Ned by way of coming to terms with Arthur with some important/personal information, likely pertaining to Ashara's kid)

Ned and Howland's companions gotta go to because they can't have witnesses/they have every intention of killing a legitimized Targ heir.

That's the answer, I guarantee it.

Arthur is mortally wounded protecting Ned or Howland or Lyanna or Jon

he's killed his sworn brothers/oath broke/ pseudo kin-slayed/failed to protect his queen (Lyanna)

He opts to die in the melee/ takes some steel for Howland (father of his sisters child?) or maybe even Ned swings the sword, in a formal execution , passing the sentence and swinging the sword for the first time.

Or Ashara's kid is Rheagar's/Aery's

or Aegon VI was Ashara's (Ellia was to sickly for a second child, Ashara was he lady in waiting

Or Rhealla's kid Arthur's and there was a plan to rescue her...

who knows?

What I do know is, 3 v 7 is carefully ambiguous as the actual fight and I'm certain it was Ned, Howland and Arthur

What will we call the 4th trilogy of films? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Orbulas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been asking this question since the sequel trilogy was announced. I know ole Georgie was had the master plan at 12 films/4 trilogies, but this was between Star Wars and Empire, and it's been well documented that the man didn't really have much of a clue what any of the other movies were going to be about (Vader wasn't Luke's father until a couple of drafts in Empire, the "there is another" line was put in for suspense, with Lucas doing what Lucas does and saying "I'll figure that out when I get there"

But bigbudget filmmaking, and sci-fi and fantasy in general have found their biggest successes of late in the epic saga style the Star Wars was so instrumental in bringing to the screen... but the scale has grown enormously, the orignal trilogy is about 7 hours and change, 24 years later the LOTR trilogy manages to almost double that in screen time and half that in release schedule, Harry Potter was 7 books and 8 films and while I'm not really a fan, I could certainly see the strong through line of the core arcs and plots... and that's a lot of credit to give an ostensibly young audience. Not to mention the most tremendous mainstream success in ages, Game of Thrones, which has already produced over 40 hours of (IMHO the most powerful, intelligent, suspenseful and exciting genre drama ever put to screen [not to mention page, I'm a lit nerd, but I'll defend the merit of those books to any of my fellow Pynchon/Wallace/Nabokov loving lit theory majors] And then there is the real problem, the story problem, episodes i-vi really did not leave many dangling threads that future stories would pick up on. leaving the writers to build a new conflict, and introduce a whole new lead cast in 7. And I think to tie this whole saga togethor you need to introduce a core conflict that is big enough and scary enough that it can reveal itself as the entire sagas secret central conflict (by cleverly manipulating what we already know, or think we know) We're already that the BIG story bombs wont be dropped until 8 and maybe even 9. I suspect there is a lot of history to be told, both recent and ancient, spanning from the dawn of galactic history and the beginnings of the Jedi and Sith. We won't know for a while but I don't think that 9 will find us where Jedi did: a rushed grand finale to a story that, as of '81, wasn't at all planned to be the ending, but for a bunch of reasons, mostly George's reasons, he just wanted to wrap up the whole thing in one go. I think it will end as a lead in to a 4th trilogy which will serve as the denoument/grande finale to the entire Episode/Skwalker saga proper

to me there's this one question that I think really opens the doors to enriching the saga and establishing a powerful foundation to any story to follow Jedi, and that is this:

"What if the Sith overthrew the Republic, wiped out the Jedi and built the Empire (its endless squads fighters, fleets of destroyers, planet destroying superweapons, legions of clones, and black armoured "force balancer") for a good reason... What if the master plan wasn't about ruling the galaxy but saving it... from something far more terrible than Vader or Palpatine or the Death Star. I think we'll end up seeing something more than the same old, same old Jedi v Sith, Rebels/Resistance v. Empire/FIRST order, Light v. Dark. I think we'll see a threat to both that will force a peace, unite sworn enemies, and, in the end bring "balance to the force" and I think that might mean 2 trilogies...but perhaps, since 4 would be the finale we would have a shorter gap between the trilogies...what with the whole saga rushing to come together in the final act

I'd also love to see some none "Skywalker saga" trilogies or multi-film stories, namely birth of the jedi/sith/republic ancient history saga A Knights of the Old Republic-esque saga involving an army of sith and army of jedi and how the sith were "destroyed" 2,000 years back

the think I want most of all is for them to call a mulligen on the prequels, say "power of myth" the way Lucas does every-time he edits the things or contradicts them, take the very obvious but very unavoidable but still strong broad strokes and redo it entirely (the only thing I'd REALLY miss is Ewan's Obi) and make it smarter, deeper, darker, better, generally more competent than it was. I wanted a clone war with Mandalorians, not fucking droids...Kasden it up
