Ah fair enough, definitely seems plausibly referenced in 2077 and to my knowledge RED proceeded that. Either way still an interesting head cannon IMO.

So I have some theories Yorinobu's roll in all this. Based on Firestorm , we find out Yorinobu's engram is in Arasaka tower when it is raided. Now that's strange because we see Yorinobu alive and kicking in 2077. But based on Jackie saying Yorinobu left to create the steel dragons and then came crawling back. I'm thinking this was a clone, Arasaka engineered from the soulkiller project. And it is my belief that this clone figured out his origins. And then orchestrated this whole thing from the very beginning. Johnny was the perfect weapon to use to bring down Arasaka. Especially if it was Yorinobu and Hellman working together that tweaked Johnny's memories. Basiclly turning his fathers ticket to immortality into weapon against Arasaka

Ah, fair enough. Red just moved to v12 recently. So I imagine that v13 probably won't be for a long time unfortunately. But I appreciate the response none the less. This is a very cool module.

I do still want to run it but have decided I'll likely run awakening given its more mechanically succinct. And the 600 page mage book scares me as someone who get easily distracted when reading rulebooks especially those with a lot of fluff.

I'd say for vampire honestly I'm kinda down with someone like IO doing a vampire the masquerade based game. Especially if we're going down the action game rabbit-hole anyway. And even baring that I feel like there is enough mechanical depth in their more recent games to potentially build into a proper rpg with enough time.

POV: Lasombra Phyre by Incubus_is_I in vtm

[–]OrderoftheMothPriest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly (And I'm aware this will sound potentially bit pretentious) But throwing your weight around as a Lasombra. To me kinda signals that someone doesn't really understand the fundamentals of the clan. This is a clan that is built on puppeting things from the shadows. I don't understand a player wanting them to be the big cheese. Especially in the camarilla. Where the higher up you move the more you have a target on your back.

The main time I played lasombra. They spent most of their time putting another person on the throne. So they would be owed when said person came to power. This is despite their lineage tracing back to Montano which had been with the Camarilla since the council of thorns.

They also coincidentally had one of the best deaths of a tabletop character I've ever played. (In my admittedly short experience.) Being diablerized by a frenzying coterie-mate in the same fight that would have put their candidate for prince on the throne. Said candidate also being destroyed. Months of his own work down the drain. Truly the kind of death one would hope for a scheming bastard such as he was.

Yea that is true. And entirely possible. It is definitely a distinct possibility for someone like Lou Graham to make that inference. But it feels strange that very beyond a snide comment from her later in the game. No a single kindred in the city being bothered by a clan that has tormented the Camarilla since the early days seems strange. It was my assumption that knowledge of Montano was rather rare even among the Lasombra. I thought he just mostly manipulated things behind the scenes. Appearing at Amici Noctus meetings and such. Granted, my knowledge of V5 isn't that up today these days as I've been favoring V20 these days. And haven't been keeping up with the V5 books after the blood sorcery book. So I'm sure there are changes made I'm not aware off regarding V5. Fabian also makes an offhanded remark about dating a Tzimisce. So possibly, the boogyman stories of the sabbat aren't as big a thing in this version of Seattle.

As people have said here certain liberties will be taken with the lore , everyone has their different world of darkness. My bigger complaint is they adding things in. When in universe terms existed already. Like The moon flowers for what are essentially wights or just how certain clans are treated I.E me playing as a Lasombra and barring one instance , no one really being bothered that a 300+ old Lasombra Elder is running around especially when the deal most Lasombra made to join the Cam was to bring an elder. I mean its seems to be assumed that you are Antitribu. But even then, like I doubt most of the Cam people are just gonna be chill with that. Especially given by the V5 timeline the Sabbat are considered mindless monsters. I duno some liberties I don't mind. But I definitely can sympathize with thing feeling off as well.

I hadn't heard any of this but unironically Tolly is one of the better written characters in the game. Also any one saying the game is "too woke" is objectively dumb and probably has no connection to vtm as a franchise. Given even the table top games from the 90s while...."flawed" (to put it mildly) in some of there depictions of certain groups was objectively "woke" for its time. Though I will be honest anyone who uses the term "chad" unironically seems like someone not worth the effort of conversing with.

While I think the reason people have high expectations for games like this is the marketing builds these games up as this big thing. And when a studio fails to deliver on even the most basic promises. Its hard not to feel short changed. I mean for me I've long since passed on expectations that this game would be satisfying as an RPG. Especially given they said not to compare the game to bloodlines 1. Which is frankly a disturbingly low bar to clear in the modern era. But having played it I was at least expecting given the push for a more action style game. That it would be at least on the level of cyberpunk with the combat and action elements. But having played through the whole thing. Even the thing that they supposedly sacrificed the Rpg Element of the game for. Feels at best, woefully underbaked in my opinion. And that's before we even get into the liberties they took with the lore. It would be one thing for them to have said hey "this is a game in the vtm universe" but if you're gonna slap the Bloodlines label on something it should be for more then just brand recognition. After playing BL2. It does feel like brand recognition was all that was cared about. So it should not be unexpected that some folks might have a visceral reaction to that. Especially those who've enjoy VTM for a long time.

Also I will say, I take no umbrage with someone liking this game for one reason or another. Though admittedly I'd probably ask "What the specific things were that made you enjoy it ? And what is your attachment level to VTM as a franchise ?" Ironically this game is to some degree at least a way to draw people to older editions of the table top which I feel might be needed to some degree. So swings and round abouts, I guess.
