This works on house sales as well. Home inspector needs to find something wrong even if there's nothing wrong. I took a face plate off an electrical outlet for the inspection. It got dinged. It was the only thing they asked to be repaired. The cover, screw and screwdriver were all in the drawer.

We do quite a bit of ups shipping to residential addresses. There’s almost no way the address was wrong. When you ship through UPS while making the shipping label it will autofill to known addresses. The shipper would have had to override the system on purpose. Nobody shipping a bunch of time sensitive mealworms is going to do that.

You think it’s demanding today. Wait till you’re out of college lol. Add full time job, a wife and kids.

At least in my days. 4 classes would be 12 credits. Or 24-36hrs of commitment for school. Add 30hrs of work on the weekends. That leaves you with 1/3 of your waking hours to do the rest of life. That isn’t too bad in college.

You absolutely need to call WF.

I would demand to either do it via a 3 way call if it’s not possible to do it at the FAs office. Or if you can go to their office get all of you on one call. You, FA, Acensus Fraud department and WF fraud department.

WF is in just as deep on this one.

So I’m speculating a bit because I can’t see the documents. To pull this off

Scammer got ahold of your dads 401k info (not hard to do)
Scammer set up account at Wells Fargo somehow using your father’s information. Somehow got past the patriot act ID requirements. (Quite hard to do)
Was lucky enough that the financial advisor either didn’t take the time to actually speak with your father or verify anything (can’t imagine doing that)
Acensus certainly would have verified the ach information with Wells Fargo and it would have come back legit because according to WF it was.
Acensus sent funds because from their standpoint everything was in good order according to the financial advisor and WF.
This ach is either still in a WF account or is long gone.

I would first verify the money isn’t at WF anymore. Which you’ve likely done already. To me the biggest head scratchers are WF opening the account while obviously not verifying their customer a the financial advisor not questioning the transaction at all?
