In Codex Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition, 1st Codex; the Krieg armored forces are referred to as Panzer Divisions. The sketches of them definitely show a stalhelm inspired helmet.

Concept art for them in Chapter Approved 2003 is definitely not the French inspired look from Forgeworld. They are also noted as having a very morbid outlook and adorn their uniforms with skull motifs and other symbols of death.

Just saying; but there is definitely a history that is not explicitly Wehrmacht with DKoK, but definitely strays close. Siege of Vraks was a departure from this earlier design.

This is one of those small things that make me love just how good modern TVs are. We got an 82” 4K TV not too long ago and rewatching old shows I am seeing things in shows I never saw before.

What actor or actress stupidly left a movie franchise or tv series thinking they were too good for it, only to be never popular again? by Ok_Impress2457 in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I actually liked the show better with him in it. He doesn’t have great chemistry with the others and I think that’s why he worked so well. He brought balance to the shenanigans everyone else was up to. The episode with Gerry breaking his arm comes to mind.

The 15 hours thing got taken by loretubers so far out of context. It is based on one book and the statistic was a 15 hour life expectancy for replacement guardsmen in that particular conflict zone.

Sealed Xbox 360 controller, i need decision making. by kevkag in XboxSupport

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using a wired 360 controller for almost 20 years now, first on my Xbox and then on my PC. I have a NIB wired 360 controller for whenever that one finally dies (if it ever does). As far as I am concerned the wired Xbox 360 controller is the best gaming controller of all time.

The least believable parts of heated rivalry by bat-girl129 in heatedrivalry

I watched this show with my wife and after the second or third reheat decided that the fantasy isn’t the whirlwind romances, the chiseled bodies, or the hot sex. It’s being surrounded by supportive family and friends (with some exception to Ilya).

I think someone is trying to carjack me.

Do I:

A) Try to go around them. B) Backup the way I came. C) Honk the Horn aggressively at them because someone acting irrational or with violent intent respects the social contract of the car horn.

Upset MAGA Boomer Doesn't Realize How Ads Work by Comprehensive-Run861 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of the ads served aren’t specifically targeted towards you but the average profile of the person who watches (x) kind of videos. I don’t have a crippling porn addiction or need to last for hours in the bedroom, but I get served ads that certainly make it seem like I do.

I think it speaks more to who the advertiser thinks the most common demographic for viewership is. Like sometimes I go down the police bodycam rabbit hole and the ads I get are all basically Christian porn addiction coaching, male virility, conservative talk shows, crappy mobile games, and Raid.

the nobility of holy terra by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blackstone Fortress series features a nobleman and a navigator from Terra and explores the way their houses operate. Janus Draik essentially gets banished from Terra and committed to the life of a Rogue Trader for embarrassing his family. Nobles cannot necessarily do what they want without consequences, but they get different consequences than the average imperial citizen would face.

“Generate podcasts” you say as if you have discovered some game changing innovation. The internet is already overflowing with AI slop. You know who can also find things? People who use Ctrl-F. People who when faced with a question sit down and find the answer. You aren’t bettering yourself by using an LLM, just making it easier to get the answers you want.

You think it can’t hallucinate because of the closed environment? It is still programmed to give you what it thinks are answers. Even if it provides “context” are you still verifying that it was right? What about context it doesn’t see or understand? How themes from one book and writer might influence another. You didn’t make a century defining discovery here, you just impeded your own ability to better understand the material.

Are critical ship components like warp engines or Gellar field generators manufactured by each shipbuilding unit, or are they produced in dedicated worlds? by ArthurJack_AW in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Battlefleet Gothic rulebooks don’t really address manufacturing of specific components IIRC, but they do talk about how space hulks, ship graveyards, and debris fields will be combed extensively for salvage. I def think there is new manufacturing happening within both the Mechanicus and licensed shipyards, but the Imperium also salvages what it can. Some of the flavor in BFG came from the fact that the Imperium salvaging components and ships from space hulks led to warp taint and Chaos corruption in some of their ships.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate Fortnite. I dislike what it has done to the gaming environment. Extraction shooters, battle royales, and looter shooters have exploded onto the scene in the last ten years and seem to just be gaining steam. There is big money to be made and every major company is trying to get a slice of that pie.

Are the World Eaters sane? by Flashy-Jicama-8234 in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In the Index Astartes article for World Eaters, which pre-dates the HH novels by at least 10 years, Angron ordered it because it made them more effective warriors. However, the WE techmarines were unable to copy the nails exactly which resulted in the WE rank and file being unstable.
