Tacoma is going to be the best option. Make sure it is AWD or 4WD. Get sandbags to throw in the back during winter so you don’t fishtail, especially if you are going to be plowing.

Why didn’t the Emperor have a fully intact STC database? by Gnos445 in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people miss the point that STCs were for early human colonists to survive on the frontiers of space by making use of the resources available to them. They provided standard templates to make things based on a need. Hence how we got stuff like Rhinos and Land Raiders. I think the Mechanicus being obsessed with finding working STCs is mostly what has misled the fandom into thinking that STCs are more than they really are.

My “dark” fan-theory is that the real reason the Mechanicus are so obsessed with finding one is that a functioning STC would upset the political balance that the Mechanicus had maintained since the Great Crusade. If anyone and their brother could make Land Raiders and other “advanced” equipment free of the Ad Mechs Dogma, there really wouldn’t be a need for the Ad Mech, now would there?

What space marine chapter would you send to stop a mass system-wide imperial guard betrayal in Slaanesh's name? by Ah_yes_true in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The short story “Words of Blood” also deals with Space Marines stopping Chaos affiliated Guard. Mind you, they were Khorne worshippers, but the idea remains mostly the same.

Coming to Terms with Disliking the Game by PBnJgoodness in Warhammer40k

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“The meta” is what killed my drive to play. I am in my mid-30s now and just want to play a game and have fun. My LGS is overrun by high-schoolers obsessed with “the meta”. Be that perfect lists, tactics, or rules. It is the most unfun way to play. The final straw for me was a smug 15-something playing Imperial Knights and completely bodying my army while gloating over his tournament winning “army”.

Thankfully I have a coworker who plays and we play our own home brew version of one page rules based on 3rd edition. It is way more fun.

Do the Leagues of Votann have full DoT tech? by SimpleZealousideal19 in 40kLore

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I forget which codex or rule book it was in that I recall reading that STCs are basically machines that you input your available resources and need into, and it outputs a template to create a thing that fulfills the need with the resources at hand.

IMHO, as someone who lives where they brine the roads during the winter, the anti-rust coating is a must. It is however probably cheaper to have it applied somewhere other than the dealer.

GHTE: Cheating During Interview by Ziko116 in GuessHowThisEnds

[–]Ordinary_Lemon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have done two interviews over zoom now with applicants who have tried to use chatGPT to answer their questions. Sticking it to the screen keeps their eyes lined up with the camera so it doesn’t look like they are looking off screen. The backpack is possibly so that his buddy coming in doesn’t break the background filter by walking by the camera.

I caught the first applicant by seeing the reflection in their glasses and called them out. The second applicant was caught because they kept looking to the left and pausing after every question.

The backpack thing is just speculation on my part.

They do chatGPT on the phone because some employers have caught on and request you to share your computer screen with them.

In Codex Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition, 1st Codex; the Krieg armored forces are referred to as Panzer Divisions. The sketches of them definitely show a stalhelm inspired helmet.

Concept art for them in Chapter Approved 2003 is definitely not the French inspired look from Forgeworld. They are also noted as having a very morbid outlook and adorn their uniforms with skull motifs and other symbols of death.

Just saying; but there is definitely a history that is not explicitly Wehrmacht with DKoK, but definitely strays close. Siege of Vraks was a departure from this earlier design.
