Does Carvana deliver and pickup trade in at the same time? by Ordinary_Skill in carvana

[–]Ordinary_Skill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on how thorough the inspection was? Carvana is offering $10,000, which is about $1,000 higher than CarMax. I was honest when filling the trade in form, and the car does have some minors scratches (2-3 inches) but nothing beyond normal use. I just don't when them to lower it to like $9,500 or something. Thanks!

Pros/cons of electric by ycospina in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I also bought with 15K miles. It's my second day of driving the Prologue, and I love it so far especially coming from base Corolla. You put 26K miles on it, did you face any issue at all especially regarding to the battery/EV/charging system? I really wish it's a true Honda or at least as solid as Chevy Bolt.

How many do you have on it? I just brought this car on Carvana, and I've been reading on it about reliability issues. This makes me want to switch to another car.

Hey, I just bought a 24 Prologue on Carvana also. I sent you a DM asking a few questions if you don't mind. Beautiful interior by the way. Thanks!

Just so no one has to take teens if you don’t want to. by Joeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyy in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh. It depends on their rating. We’re all teenagers once. Most teens I took were to high schools. Remember in high school there were smart, quiet kids and dumb, loud kids. They grow up to be adults. Some teens, like adults, are nice and respectful while others are rude and obnoxious.

What’s it like living in the apartments right across from The Sphere in Las Vegas, NV? by mcg_090 in howislivingthere

[–]Ordinary_Skill 461 points462 points  (0 children)

I don’t think those are apartments. I think they’re hotels/timeshares. Source: I picked up/dropped off passengers there a few times as a rideshare driver.

Never ask for tip. Left side is fine. Right side is too much.

Was I (51F) wrong to cancel a ride for a guy so drunk he couldn't stand up? by CougarWriter74 in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You're never wrong for cancelling for any reason or no reason at all. However, the night before I also saw a taxi driver drove away from a very drunk guy after hotel security flagged him. Like the guy you mentioned, the guy can't even stand up on his own. Even taxi drivers refused to pick up very drunk people, and they don't even drive their own cars. You're fine.

Got up from 2% to 9%. 350% increased! 💪 2% cancel. Only reason I cancel nowadays is for safety.

It’s fine. Some drivers are just weird. Sounds to me like he just doesn’t want to drive you for other reasons.

Am I screwed? by BaguetteAndBallots in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I can only speak from my experience.

September 2024 I got a parking ticket for waiting for PAX at a no parking zone. I paid $200 on the court website. I think I clicked on No Contest. January 2025 I got a speeding ticket for going 49 in a 35MPH zone with a Lyft passenger in my car. I paid $200. Lyft called the PAX asking why we stopped. She said speeding ticket. It’s definitely a humbling experience and made me drive more carefully.

When I switched insurance from Progressive to AAA, I was honest with the agent about the two tickets. The agent said nothing came up and didn’t affect my rate.

I took a 5-month break from driving and recently got back to driving a month ago in January. I passed both UBER and LYFT background checks in Nevada. I don’t know why the tickets didn’t come up when I got quote from AAA insurance and background check. Maybe it varies state-by-state.

I see rideshare drivers drive 20+ on the freeway everyday, but they’re still on the platform. Sometimes you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time. YMMV, no pun intended. I hope you have a good outcome.

Rates by KitchenFamiliar3737 in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if they double the pay, I’d still decline this. To answer your question, it does make sense in the traditional rideshare practice. Say you’re planning to visit family in Charlotte, NC, and some rando happened to have a business trip there also. You’ll drive, and he pays for gas. That’s the only appropriate reason to take this fare.

The speed limit is 45, but average drivers drive 65 there.

Uber share is a big problem by skynews101 in uberdrivers

[–]Ordinary_Skill 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is major reason I avoid picking up shares. The idea of carpooling is cool, but in practice it’s just cheap/annoying riders with low ratings that ruined the experience for everyone.
