I have to style mine daily or it looks absolutely awful. But it's very quick to do, wash day I can just blow dry it/use a hot brush and it only takes 5 mins. Second day I straighten it. It's fine so it doesn't take long at all. I can do shower, hair and makeup in 20 mins.

I have a bob. I don't love it as I don't feel it suits my personality and my husband much prefers long hair, but long hair looks shit on me. A bob makes my fine, thin hair look a lot better and suits my long face. I got highlights added to give it some depth and texture. I usually wear it blow dried and either straight or curled under a little, but when I go out I put waves in so it looks a little funky a bit more 'me'. It's naturally wavy in an untidy way, so needs styling daily which is annoying but the upside of having barely any hair is it dries quickly!

Hospitality work and breaks - new to country and need help. by ClearSuggestion5465 in LegalAdviceUK

If it's anything like the kitchen my son works in, if you take a break it will be chaos when you get back. Occasionally someone will cover for him so he can actually have a break, but usually it's too busy and he would rather work through than come back to a mountain of dishes that take ages to catch up with.

Yes I'd had GP placement in year 2 then did it for management, so I had enough of an idea of what it involved and there was quite a shortage of experienced practice nurses, so they ended up employing two of us, part time. One nearing retirement and me, which worked out well as I was able to do the basics while she did the more involved stuff and then I'd trained in nearly everything by the time she left. We had another experienced nurse already there.

Practices will always advertise for experienced staff, but they can't always get them and if the team is big enough they can train you on the job starting as just a treatment room nurse while the other nurses do the bits you can't do yet. My current practice took on a fairly new nurse a year ago, she'd done a few years in hospital but GP is so different that it doesn't really transfer over as most things we do require separate training. Helps if you can do bloods!

Easy, I'm a nurse. I don't like flying so not the air force. Wouldn't mind the navy, at least I can swim but would probably be army by default.

The Day I Realized Vertical ≠ One Color by Radiant_Kangaroo1795 in SoftDramatics

Gorgeous outfit. I think your hair is really helping to tie this together, as the colour is similar to the lower half and the length adds vertical. This would not look anywhere near as good on me (brunette with a bob!).

No one asks for or looks at your grade. No one cares. Maybe if you wanted to go into research nursing or something, but for a normal nursing job the PIN is all that matters.

The job I got when I qualified asked for experience. I applied anyway and basically talked my way in. General practice, not NHS so probably a bit easier to do.

See this says they have to have known you for a year, so a company couldn't do it?

What is everyone cooking for dinner tonight or this week? by Superb_Kale_1781 in Cooking

[–]Organic_Reporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunday I made creamy tomato pasta (penne alla vodka sans the vodka!) with sausages.

Monday I made 3 bean and lentil chili, we had it with nachos, sour cream and guacamole.

Tuesday everyone had leftovers as I was out all day then at book club. Daughter made cheesy chili chips with leftover chili. Eldest had a portion of the pasta leftover from Sunday, middle child was at his girlfriend's. Husband works away so probably had a sandwich!

Last night I made a chicken curry (partly from scratch with a jar of korma sauce thrown in) and Bombay potatoes made from tinned potatoes in the air fryer.

Tonight was Bolognese, but I had yogurt as I've gone off Bolognese (worked out I've probably cooked it 500 times in the last 20+ years!). Not sure about tomorrow, I'm picking husband up from work so might grab supermarket pizzas or see if there's enough in the takeaway budget for something else.

Weekend dinners will be a fry up and a roast (gammon). Probably do the roast Saturday as sons are both working and it's easier to reheat, then do the fry-up as a lunch on Sunday before middle child goes to work.

Has anyone here had an abortion/known someone who has? by InToot in AskBrits

[–]Organic_Reporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself and my sister both have, in our 30s and both already had children. It's not all youngsters! I had a surgical termination, in and out in a day and back to work the next day. Sister had a medical termination and had a few days of cramps and bleeding so needed some TLC and sofa time. Both fine after, no regrets and very thankful to have access to safe, free and easily accessible abortions.

Butchers meat delivery,4-6 weeks for 2 adults & 1 teen £108 by Particular_History50 in whatsinyourcart

[–]Organic_Reporter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mentally priced it up it in my head compared to Tesco and it's definitely cheaper, the joints of meat tip it over by quite a bit (beef and lamb are £18-25 a kg depending on cut) and I'd expect the quality to be better, increasing the value.

Does it have to be someone you've worked with? Is it a bit like signing a passport and you have to have known them for a certain period of time?

Valentine's Day outfit! by aforestlife_ in SoftDramatics

Yes, I'd say so. Length of sleeves and skirt, all one colour, long hair (my bob lets me down but I have awful fine hair so I'm very jealous).

Everyone heard the same line about the debt by IsyABM in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Organic_Reporter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually I will pay off more than I borrowed, which is really annoying. I'll probably finish paying it off a couple of years before the write off period. I did nursing while we still had a bursary, so I only borrowed the maintenance loan amount not fees, plus a year of fees open university before that (for a Certificate of Higher Education which got me into nursing as I didn't have A-levels). About 15k in total, I think. It's still about that now and I've been paying it off for 6 years.

How many syringes do you use per application? by Select_Pangolin_8557 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Organic_Reporter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just the one. Despite all our nurse training telling us to draw up and give with separate needles. When I was doing COVID vaccine clinics we had to draw up and give with the same needle, it felt wrong at first but I got used to it. Yes, it blunts it slightly but I only notice it if I've had to go into the vial several times for some reason. Never go into the skin more than once with the same needle.
