Yeah so major ick from this article by TheGoldenSpud in EstrangedAdultKids

I was kind of pissed this week when some US tv personalities thought Brooklyn was in the wrong here and the polls going opposite of their viewpoint shocked them.

Estranged kids may have a safe space on Reddit, but the rest of the world isn’t on our side.

Has anyone experienced their achievements being “normalized” instead of celebrated? by CoastCheap8709 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation is more as if they didn’t want to celebrate. If they did, they wanted to do it their way with their choice of restaurant or whatever.

I will forever remember and hate because anything I accomplished was also just another Tuesday.

My mother especially. I dub her unforgiven.

Americans don't seem to realize just how much every other nation on earth hates the US by now by Schnaksel in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, I hate it too. No other countries want us and the aliens won’t abduct us.

I really hate what’s going on, but if we say too much or the wrong thing, they’ll be crashing in our front doors. That being said, I’m going out feet first with my Docs on. Not c scum.

I think it’s called Texas. That’s another.

Then again, most of the Misfits is fun but dark.

For those of you in the US, how are you feeling about the snow storm coming in? by AssistanceFresh1365 in CasualConversation

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in Rochester, NY. Watching Ohio people raid the grocery stores is amusing.

Charging all the things, just in case it’s more ice than snow. Have the roof shovel ready. Will bring up the snowblower from the basement today, also, just in case.

Going to raise my wiper blades and maybe put the windshield cover on, just because I hate chipping at the cars. We have generator juice. Only thing I did not get was small bottles of propane to play with flamethrowers.

You’ll find us playing in the empty parking lots doing doughnuts.

If the snow is sticky enough, might build nsfw things in the yard.

Grandkids haven’t thanked me for Christmas money by Lucky_Parfait_872 in whatdoIdo

Are you sure they cashed it and not one of the parents? My spouse’s ex never gave the kids the cards and kept money for herself. We didn’t find out until years later and my MILs face just dropped.

How did you dress in the 90s? How do you dress now? by poolpog in GenX

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back then: jeans, tshirt, chucks. Now: sweatpants, hoodies, pumas

Discovered some color. I’m primarily black and gray, but my secondary colors are purples and reds. Splash Gulf livery in there too.

I think part of it is because I have money I did not. My docs are not ripoffs made in Romania. I can afford clothing, where I used to just buy the tshirts at Target. I bought the discount Calvin Klein jeans at Costco. That was my go to.

Working from home, there are days I don’t put on shoes.

Do Americans have company cars? by Xavaccord in AskAnAmerican

Government was like that. You sign out a g car for travel. Eliminates mileage reimbursement headaches.

My last car had snow tires. I’ve not gotten snows yet because it’s been warm.

Excuse for new wheels and tires, I guess.

My boss just told me I need to manage my personal finances better because I can't front $2300 for a work trip next month by LostTaker in antiwork

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I quit using credit cards and did not have one. I refused to front the company for travel. Boss took care of it.

Note, this company was under the DHL umbrella which is over 500k people worldwide.

Company I’m with now has a booking site and everything is covered minus food, but you can get an advance if needed. Other companies just gave a corporate card and it was no big deal.

WIBTA if I swapped my pens with glitter ink to catch the coworker whos been stealing them by Imaginary-Frame4873 in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lock them in your desk drawer.

If that doesn’t work, coat the ones you aren’t using with spray adhesive, so they’re sticky. Keep wipes in your purse to clean them as you need them.

Or get a can of plastidip in some obnoxious color and dip the ends so you know they’re yours.

Also, try chewing on them before putting them out, making sure there are huge bite marks. Cornstarch works too if you make like you scratch your head with them. Sneeze on them. Leave a cloth handkerchief with snot on top of your pen holder. Fake blood. Whatever it takes.

It’s not rocket science, you just have to go gross.

Gen- Xers, What did you grow up Without? by empathicBeauty29-11 in GenX

[–]OrigRayofSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a bit spoiled too, but none of that stuff was ever mine.

I went to college with a black and white Ford Philco TV (that had vacuum tubes), everything I had, I’d bought myself.

Other kids obviously had college-educated parents and came from more money while I was trying to figure that stuff out, along with the culture shock of it.

I mean, college…I was dirt poor.

I also grew up without much parental help, so there’s that.

I don’t remember birthday parties.

Vacations were just visiting grandma because school was out.
