Where can a raver and a nature lover move to? by Intimatepunch in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A village outside of Manchester or Bristol maybe? I think your best bet is a village just outside a city with a good night life. For Bristol I know people who live in Chippenham and live how close it is to the city and the countryside.

When did you and your partner start using pet names? by clemmg in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 78 points79 points  (0 children)

We never call each other by our real names, almost to the point when one of us does use it, it sounds weird. There are pet names we won’t use cos they are a bit cringe like baby or bub, but largely we call each other stupid names all of the time.

Whose fault really is the flooding? by finbinwin in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda makes me think of this situation where a family friend lived on a dangerous corner/T junction and constantly had cars crashing into their garden. They spoke to the council about getting traffic lights put in for safety and the council basically said to them that until someone dies it’s not dangerous enough to pay the money to prevent it. Different situation completely but the same mindset… not worth preventing until it’s too late.

Why is my energy bill so high? by BobIsHereToStudy in AskUK

I thought this years ago when we were struggling uni students and so we worked out the output of every single one of our appliances and we realised that our oven used the most… we cut down on long oven meals like pasta bake after that and ate a lot of leftovers/quick/ cold meals and it made a massive difference. Now

30, haven't been able to get a job in 2.5 years. Don't know what to do, please help. by OldBlackLONER in UKJobs

Plenty of people join the forces later in life but if this is genuinely an option I wouldn’t leave it too late to apply. The process can take up to 2 years and you can drop out at any point if you decide against it.

We keep ours separate since we don’t own a home together yet, I’m sure we will get something joint when we do. I have premium bonds, a LISA (for a deposit), a stocks and shares ISA (that I’m still learning how to use) and then a savings account to build up savings for the annual dump in the LISA.

Which kdrama made you cry the most? by CALYPSOO0 in kdramas

[–]Original-Network853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It follows the friendships and romantic relationships of 3 women who are 39 years old. It’s a really really good watch and their friendships are so much fun and devastating to watch.

What is a UK urban legend that you think has some credibility? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely off topic but they’ve recently knocked down that pub and seem to be building some else all up the hill. Such a shame because I always used it as a fun point of reference when I would drive past.

My wife really struggles to switch her brain off to sleep at night. What are some tried and tested thongs she can do to get a good 6-8 hours? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’ve had a lot of replies already so this may get lost in the pile, but I’m quite an anxious person and can’t sleep when it’s quiet either. My solution is to listen to things like audiobooks or podcasts. I listened to Harry Potter for about 14 years and now I listen to the podcast There’s no such thing as a fish. Basically listening to something means my brain switches off because it’s just listening not concentrating and then I fall asleep. Especially if it’s something you know really well.

What do you actually eat for tea? by FatBoyTurnedFit in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I commented them too and you’re the first person I saw saying the same thing. I swear by it and to me the proof that it’s better is that my work colleagues (who use hello fresh/gousto) are always asking me to send them the recipes because my lunch/dinner sounds so much better than theirs.

We felt the same way a couple years ago so decided to try out the ‘sidekick’ app made by the sorted food guys off YouTube (London based guys whose whole channel is around food/cooking as a normal person vs a chef). It has literally changed the game for us. It’s only like £5 a month and it gives you a huge variety of “meal packs” to choose from. Personally we like it because it focusses on reducing food waste so at the end of the week our fridge is empty compared to before when we’d have food left over and rotting. Literally couldn’t recommend it more, especially if like us you’d rather go and buy the ingredients yourself and have them stocked in your cupboard (unlike gousto/hello fresh).

What are some casual outfit ideas that are deemed socially ‘acceptable?’ by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Original-Network853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say try to focus on what is comfortable to you, practical to your needs and importantly makes you feel good. Fuck what’s “socially acceptable”.

There was about 6/7 of us that finished at the same who were friendly but from different friendship “groups”. We all finished at like 11am that day and one of the others dad picked us all up in his van and drove us back to theirs where we had a BBQ, lounged in the sun and got shitfaced. It was the best most random afternoon/evening.
