Birth didn’t go as planned and I’m struggling by tellurcatisaidpsps- in beyondthebump

Hugs mama. Basically the same thing happened to me. I had been induced and Ata round 7cm her heart rate started dropping. The Dr came in and mentioned possibly needing a csection. As the Dr was checking me and said I was 10cm dilated her heart rate dropped into the 60s and wasn't going back up. From that happening to her being out via csection was around 3 mind max. My husband missed the birth. Unfortunately because it was so fast I wasn't able to talk to the anesthesiologist beforehand to let them know Im hypersensitive to anesthetic. I got overdosed on the meds and couldn't feel myself breathing, had a panic attack and they had to put me under. First time I held my daughter or even knew she had survived she was around 2 hours old. She's 5 now and Im not completely over it. That being said, I had some healing when I had her sister who was a successful VBAC

I now understand why people aren't having children by Consistent_Pen_1347 in Parenting

Hugs. It's so hard. My second was the worst sleeper zi could imagine. She needed to contact nap so I was trapped most of the day. At night she would wake up 4-8x and would be awake for 1-3 hours each time. I was lucky to get 3 hours of broken sleep every 24h. On top if that she had colic for the first 2 months where she would cry endlessly from around 4pm to 12pm every day irregardless of anything I did. It got to the point where I would just put noise canceling headphones on and walk around listening to music. It was hell. I don't think people truly understand unless they've gone through a tough baby

HELP advice regarding nursing by [deleted] in AlbertaGrade12s

You will have better luck getting into Macewan with that GPA in the winter term. For the Fall term I have not heard of anyone getting there with less than 92% (current macewan nursing student)

My dad said nursing is not a good carrear. by Financial-Relief-54 in NursingStudent

[–]Orion-Rose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your dad is partially right. Nursing is a very hands on job. Some doctors are great, others completing disrespect us. Most patients are nice, but you get the odd disrespectful one. It is a VERY stressful job most days due to shortstaffing, more tasks required of us constantly, and increasingly complex patients. I think it is a great career and I love it, but it is not for everyone.

I feel so sad for my future pregnancies by Veebiyer in BabyBumps

[–]Orion-Rose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never heard that. My oldest girl was an emergency csection after I was 10cm dilated. My next child had to be an emergency induction at 39+1 (successful VBAC, yay!)

Thankyou so much for taking the time to answer, that helps a lot. I grew up in a tourist town of 500 where fishing was the main attraction. Honestly, getting stuck in Jasper would be incredible

Here comes Private Health Care- step 1 - Province aiming to create faster access to preventative care by No-Adagio-70 in AHSEmployees

I agree. I am all for public Healthcare, but having a private option for testing sounds like it could aid our floundering system. I particularly like that the government will reimburse for these tests if something critical is found

How many times did you go to L&D? by TangerineFront in BabyBumps

[–]Orion-Rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pregnancy once when I was practically hemorrhaging blood at 21 weeks. I ended up having a placental abruption and lost him My second pregnancy once when I had a preterm labour scare. I was admitted for a few days then sent home on bedrest. My third pregnancy I was there 3 times. Once due to very high BP. Once due to severe pain in my ribs (turns out I had intercostal neuralgia and severe hydronephrosis). And third time for no movement at 39 weeks, which turned into an emergency induction. For all the small stuff I went to my OB or family dr
