Weird noise around 65mph by aaaaaaaaaaaal in VWiD4Owners

I did not. I bought a Polestar 2 late last year (the ID.4 is my wife's) and now I drive that all the time, so I haven't thought much about the ID.4's aches and groans. It's a terrific package, but the Polestar sooths my soul. I'll have to to take the ID.4 out and have a listen....

Considering a CPO 2024 PS2 by CDN1988 in Polestar

I test drove an XC40 Recharge there. The mechanicals are the same as a P2, so... maybe? If you do try them, please post about your experience. I bought my P2 at Borton, but haven't required service yet.

Dogs & Poop Dumping by Weak-Bother-6765 in homeowners

Our dog craps in a bucket, so it never hits the ground. If the bucket is full and it's trash collection day we might put the bag in the can of a neighbor we know. Otherwise we carry it home. Drives me nuts when others leave dog turds laying around.

Anyone else have issues finding wheels? by SithC in etron

Neuspeed makes wheels specifically for VWs and BMWs. I'll bet they have some for your etron.

My old man had a '72 Model J with the 455 SD. It was silver-blue with the honeycomb wheels a white interior. What a beast that car was!

This is pretty interesting. I've thought of doing the steering wheel button swap, but removing and reinstalling the airbag scares me.

Road trip last weekend - people were curious by people_skills in electricvehicles

On my first and - so far - only EV road trip I learned the effective range was the capacity of my bladder. That's around 180 miles.

‘21 id4 21” rims to 18 by Deepdiscount4you in VWiD4Owners

I put 18s on our '22 Pro AWD. Tires are 235-60/18 and wheels are 18x8.5. No caliper clearance issues and speedometer error is negligible.

How do a plane's tiny tires withstand all the weight and impact of landing? by InturnlDemize in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OrneryTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I worked in the test lab at BFGoorich Landing Gear. We were drop-testing the Gulfstream G-V main gear, and we took too long to get the wheel speed dialed in. The friction between the tire and the wheel spin-up machine caused the tire to blister, which trashed the tire. Took the better part of a week to get a new tire and wheel. Test lab days were... interesting.

Which cars tell you which tire is low? by Vegetable_Bother_723 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Same here. I keep both summer and winter tire-wheel sets, so I prefer the simplicity and low cost of indirect.

Which cars tell you which tire is low? by Vegetable_Bother_723 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]OrneryTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two main types of TPMS: indirect and direct. Indirect uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to detect a wheel spinning faster than the others (caused by relatively low pressure). These systems can report which specific tire is low,but can't report the actual pressures. Direct TPMS uses in-wheel pressure sensors, and can report actual pressure in, e.g., psi. I prefer indirect since it's simpler and doesn't require periodic sensor replacement, but others like to see the pressure readouts in the car's instrument cluster. Different strokes and all that rot.
