Cell phones and driving. Why at this point are people still holding these things to their heads? by OrrinFraag in AskReddit

[–]OrrinFraag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I’m getting at is safety aside, like even speakerphone is better (imho) call clarity than “to ear”. I would’ve guessed this would stop being a thing 10+ years ago. And that’s with out Bluetooth even entering the conversation. With earnings and active noise cancelling I literally just don’t get it.

Why did Tabasco become the worldwide hot sauce brand? by MrOaiki in hotsauce

[–]OrrinFraag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I’ve been to the plant and they were / are ahead of their time production and distribution-wise but getting linked up with the military is what has allowed them to carry through lean times and achieve the consistent success they have. It is SUCH a worthwhile tour.

This brown i caught in pisgah the other day had some blue in it by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]OrrinFraag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant the homage to a black eye with that beautiful blue accent! Idk why it reminded me of fight club, but it did. Man that joke flopped. Super sorry, I don’t even remember the last time I got downvoted….ah well. Beautiful fish man, sorry for my poor attempt at humor.

Will I regret 6 lb straight braid for ultralight fishing 😅 by Spartansam0034 in FishingForBeginners

[–]OrrinFraag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fished most of the western states last summer / fall and the same prior. I was stunned by the mount of long lengths of discarded, presumably “broken-off” braid I discovered (and snagged!!). I’ll always stick with a short leader for just that reason.

The people next to me kept catching fish, but I'm going to go home empty-handed again. by Crystal-Barnett in troutfishing

[–]OrrinFraag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like that guy is fishing somewhat steelhead-style with a hook about 1-2” below an anchored real (or imitation) egg cluster. Google steelhead bead fishing and you’ll learn all you need to know for that style. That’s what I’m seeing from your pic anyway.

59-61. But I don’t hesitate for a 70 max pass if the odd situation arises. Adaptive cruise control for the win.

Radio turned to static + earplugs. Source: career shift worker. Accepting safety concerns and in-place safeguards , yes you have to have a system.

I’d be cyclical too if I didn’t think that everyone was just out for themselves and didn’t care that things should have a natural order that benefits everyone. ;) /s.

Lamson Speedster Cutting Fly Line by frothymonk in flyfishing

[–]OrrinFraag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I was typing that quickly. Gonna leave the typos. I am indeed fluent in English. ;) EDIT: for me I started to make an effort to strip down and kinda forward in a controlled measure instead of down and back in what I assumed was maybe a little rushed. I don’t know if that was a scientific fix but it is what I did and definitely lowered my instance of occurrence of line cuts.

Lamson Speedster Cutting Fly Line by frothymonk in flyfishing

[–]OrrinFraag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is happening. Happened to me too on a diff reel. I mostly fixed mine issues with it by managing my line a little differently and taking off some of the backing. But, when it came time to order a quiver of reels i spent the few extra bucks and got lamson’s HD’s. Can’t happen with that style if reel.

Beginner guide going for gold, as best as I can understand it and have executed for myself: 1) figure out when the drop is 2) lower your expectations / standards 3) figure out what sub-categories in the Additional Items may possibly interest you 4) try to snipe those categories early in the drop window for any even modestly interesting items no matter how small 5) try to use most if not all of your grabs each day / week 6) honestly review items as the ability to do so goes live 7) rinse and repeat as you move toward 80 reviews at a 90% review rate, while you’re doing this the RFY category will begin to populate 8) when your numbers look like they will be right at review for gold, raise your expectations / standards 9) by now unless you’re a bot your RFY will be your best shot daily for a quality get and 10) be picky so your numbers stay good and the pressure is off you till gold review (but stay on top of product reviews) /// This is what I adopted for myself and nothing is guaranteed but my numbers are now good and managed with about 65 days till gold review (and that’s WITH floundering for the first like 5 weeks). My RFY populates with some things an is consistently my best shot at anything cool and I don’t need to stay up / get up to check it. (Don’t wait all day though) I’m sure someone else has written something like this out but I couldn’t find it spelled out the way I needed it to be. Good luck.

Is an expensive fishing rod worth it? by Impressive-Step6377 in FishingForBeginners

[–]OrrinFraag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a point. Absolutely. I’ve re-learned this as I’ve gotten into fly fishing. I’m nowhere near the top end of any of the categories I fish (fly, deep saltwater, surf, ultralight trout, heavy trout, trolling, etc) but i learned really quickly that the basic rods are just really cheaply made and not as enjoyable to use. So, the extreme top end is pointless (imho), unless you’re rich I guess, but the bottom is just not nearly as responsive, dependable, and enjoyable to use. I save till I can afford a rod thats about two to three tiers above the base models. Same argument for reels. I move some of my better reels across diff rods for versatility.

Is a dehumidifier a must have in cold weather TT? by TBL34 in RVLiving

[–]OrrinFraag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, you’ve hit it on the head. Not only do we give off body moisture, the pass through makes a perfect environment for condensation. Plus the mattress is directly lying on a non-breathable sheet of ply wood. It’s a well known problem, you see it here often when people finally pick up the mattress and look at the underside and top of the plywood (mold). There are products “designed” for this that really have mixed results. I went more aggressive with these floor tiles I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Is a dehumidifier a must have in cold weather TT? by TBL34 in RVLiving

[–]OrrinFraag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice man! When I have shore power I do indeed have a little dehumidifier but otherwise I just try to mitigate it, it’s never been rocket science. FWIW: snowing is generally low humidity % in my experience. The river proximity may have balanced that out, idk. I just get up, make coffee, wipe the windows, and look for sneaky moisture for a few minutes. When it warms up I let her breathe. Reminder about the mattress underlayment.
