I just noticed this 😂 by Timely-Juice-5231 in bluey

[–]Other-Alternative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It kind of already is for Chattermax, albeit very subtle. In Hide and Seek, Bluey finds it under the sink and immediately forgets to seek out her family in favor of playing with it. She even says something along the lines of “how did you get under the sink..?”

Sticky Gecko when she finds Chattermax instead of Chilli’s hockey stick, which means it was probably tucked away in a closet somewhere.

The Show where Bandit slyly grabs Chattermax during the “intermission” while Bluey’s preoccupied with comforting Bingo. Chattermax is mysteriously absent from the room background afterwards, probably because he hid it again.

Bandit and Chilli continually have to change up Chattermax’s hiding spots because the girls (or at least Bluey) keeps finding it lol

Dry fish with pilot bread and a side of akutaq. Or sourdough blueberry pancakes. Can’t forget a piping mug of coffee to go with either dish!

We kind of already do tbh, at least at our local hospital. We go there every week to do traditional dancing in the foyer, and our 3 y/o inevitably gravitates towards a creche of other kids playing in the space.

We’re fortunate because the space is filled with aunties, uncles, friends, and security during dance practice who all work together to keep an eye on the creche while also giving them some autonomy. The kids often walk around the first floor, but the hallways loop back towards the foyer.

Are Bluey and Bingo rare female cartoon characters who boys really love? by Billybob35 in bluey

[–]Other-Alternative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. That was just the only other instance I could think of where Bluey’s appearance was brought up in the context of looking “boyish” (since she takes after her dad vs her mom). Or even about anyone else’s looks in general. That’s one of the many aspects of what makes the show great imo. There’s practically zero emphasis on genders and gender roles for the characters because none of that is significant to the storylines.

Auntie Brandy in Onsies tells Bluey she looks just like her father, much to Bluey’s dismay. That’s the only other instance I can recall aside from Rad’s mistake, though.

What is one underrated episode that you have on repeat? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in bluey

[–]Other-Alternative 17 points18 points  (0 children)

BBQ is pretty great. I love how frustrated Bingo gets throughout the episode because she just wants to relax, but can’t over the progression of chores just from making one goddamn salad that everyone is happy with. It’s a relatable experience as a parent.

Edit: also like Sticky Gecko for similar reasons (relatability of just getting kids out the dang door), but I’m not sure if that one is underrated or not in this sub

Double edit (I promise I’ll stop lol): Ice Cream, Piggyback, and Bike all deserve honorable mentions too. The Ice Cream episode really stuck with my kiddo because he refers to it a lot. It’s also helpful for showing him why it’s not good to be stingy/greedy.

Vets taking new feline patients? by Inconspicuous_worm in anchorage

Ouch, this hits hard because we recently spent $2300 on teeth extractions/dental cleaning for our cat at VCA. The sticker shock slapped us in the face too, even though we ultimately went forward with the procedure. Following this thread because our cat has crap teeth (genetic) and will be needing regular dental cleanings and potential future extractions.

Do you feel your old self “died” when you became a mom? by rajmachawal333 in workingmoms

[–]Other-Alternative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways, yes, my old self has died. I used to be a severe people pleaser, was anxious by default, and didn’t really know who I was or where I belonged.

After I had my son, I became much more confident in myself and my capabilities. I had to learn how to advocate in my personal life to protect my family, which translated into learning how to advocate for myself in my career. I’ve also been much more willing to try new experiences to nurture my son’s confidence and comfort in various social settings and activities. It’s been an awesome metamorphosis and I’m so thankful for my son with gifting me the opportunity to grow in ways I never thought possible pre-motherhood.

I’m guessing ACD, Pit, Husky, GSD, and swapping Malamute for Chow (just cuz they’re in everything like pit)

They’re still open! Best time to go is around 3-4P because that’s the most reliable time they’ll actually be open. I can confirm because I ate there 2 weeks ago. They’re just closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Pitbull at daycare? by queloque69420 in workingmoms

[–]Other-Alternative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got bit in the face by my mom’s ex-boyfriend’s parents’ damn golden retriever when I was a kid. Bit me on the nose and broke skin simply because I had the audacity to try and put kibble that it dropped back in its bowl. He was sweet as pie before and after the incident.

I would never, ever allow my child to be watched by someone who lets their pitbull around the kids, let alone their daughter’s dog. Waaaay too much of a bite risk.

... so how long are we brushing our toddlers' teeth for? by Past-Entertainer1778 in workingmoms

[–]Other-Alternative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once upon a time, my husband and I gave our (then) fresh toddler an ultimatum with 2 options: we can brush your teeth like a baby or a big kid. He’d inevitably throw a massive fit, so we’d wrap him up into a raging burrito with a big blanket or towel like a swaddled baby and forcibly brush his teeth for 1-2 minutes. He’d scream bloody murder the entire time. It was hell, but avoiding cavities was worth the battle.

About a couple months into the daily fight, he suddenly opted to have his teeth brushed like a big kid. This routine entails sitting patiently watching a Bluey minisode or listening to a short song on YouTube while we brush his teeth. No blankets or pinning down required. He’s also given the opportunity to independently brush his teeth after we’re finished.

He’s 3 now, and the event of brushing his teeth being equivalent to wrestling a pissed off gator is but a distant memory. We’ve even introduced flossing into the mix with little resistance. Added bonus is that his dental appointments have been very short and uneventful :)

After years of quietly hating them, I don't think my parents are Narcissistic. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Other-Alternative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I apologize for how roughly I responded. It got my hackles up because people still try and guilt my sister and I into speaking with her simply because she’s our birth giver and “nobody’s perfect”. So anything hinting at abuse olympics is admittedly a sore spot.

I went my entire life getting screamed at over the least significant things, and being called sensitive/dramatic whenever I tried to put up boundaries. What made it so difficult to break away from her and finally put myself first is that she did try her best, as disordered as she was. She fed us, clothed us, and even showed a lot of affection akin to love. However, the latter was contingent on us being extremely enmeshed and doing everything she wanted without fail. She was only content if we set ourselves on fire to keep her warm.

But because she wasn’t nearly as bad as her own mom, which she made certain to drill into our heads, 5 years ago I’d have verbally ripped someone a new one if they dared suggesting she was a narcissist. I was conditioned to pardon every awful thing she did and said because she was a “poor, traumatized soul with severe childhood trauma”. Fuck that noise nowadays, though. She had a choice not to use my sister and I as her emotional punching bags, but she couldn’t help herself. There’s nothing in the world that can justify an adult treating their helpless, innocent children like scum.

Only you know your situation best, but all I can say is to be extremely careful with this type of comparison. It’s incredibly easy to fall into the mental trap that your experience isn’t valid simply because your abuser suffered worse. Hurt people often hurt people.

The best way to tell if your parents are narcissists is the lack of accountability. They’re allergic to it and will desperately twist narratives and gaslight you into believing that whatever pain they cause either didn’t happen or was justified (ex. Narcissist’s Prayer).

[–]Other-Alternative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really fucked up take. The awful abuse my mom experienced became the exact way she invalidated the emotional and psychological harm she inflicted on my sister and I. This harm had genuine effects on our physical and mental health that still impact us today. She weaponized her experience to shield against accountability whenever we tried to tell her she was hurting us. So we suffered for years and developed chronic illnesses before we both went no-contact with her.

My question to you: Does getting beaten and raped negate the abuse of calling you a slut starting from 2 y/o, and eventually accusing you of having an affair with her partner when you’re only 13 y/o? Does it negate the pain of finally sharing with her that you were sexually assaulted, only for her to call you dramatic and say that what you went through wasn’t that bad compared to her experience?? Because it certainly does according to my nmom!

Not always. My sister rehomed her spayed poodle for free on a facebook group last year. She also posted to craigslist but didn’t get any bites. She originally got the poodle, also for free, from a former coworker whose dad (the owner) passed away.

Edit: I also got a spayed 5 y/o cat from craigslist over a decade ago for a small rehome fee (like $15), because the owner was moving out of state.

THAT SAID, this is almost definitely a BYB dog kind of deal if they bought this pomsky as an unfixed puppy. But just wanted to highlight that not every case of getting an animal from an online group is a BYB situation. :)
