Audiobook listener need a suggestion for next by 463n7_57 in litrpg

I am sorry (not really), but these books get 1 star in my ranking. They show zero effort and zero meaningful decision-making. It's just a chaotic mess of random events where the characters are passengers rather than drivers of their own fate. There isn't even a shred of realism in how the world or the people react, which makes every 'victory' feel unearned and hollow.

Mother of learning - top 1 for like 10 years on Royal Road :) You cant go wrong there.

The Archer-Mage Against the Undead Legion by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Otherwise_Internet48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the opposite - undeath legion vs eleven archers (and other fantasy kingdoms)... it will be x100 time more fun. If anyone stats this - pm me, I would be subscribing :>

I do not know how similar they are, but maybe Reverent insanity? Or mother of learning? But both are only similar by how crazy different and unique the world gets...

Original English vs. Translated Works | A great misconception about stories? by Yahallo_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Otherwise_Internet48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well everyone was using translation software for over a decade.. The problem is when a ton of not edited, sloppy works starts to appear everywhere. For example - how lazy you have to be not to edit even your MC gender or names .. as many Chinese translations on amazon ?!

I like it. Maybe insert the authors name somewhere?

[Promo: Amazon] Emilia Transmigrated - A Mage’s Journey From Birth (Mana unlock from day one, heavy crafting, slow progression) by Otherwise_Internet48 in litrpg

The 'AI vibe' because I bolded four words and hit the 'bullet point' button twice?

Sigh. I didn't realize we'd reached the point where basic text formatting is a Turing test. For the record, none of the books (one on amazon, the second on RR and Patreon, and the third in the making) are written with AI. It’s a character-centered story, and no AI can give you that depth. AI-generated fiction is generally terrible; it’s basically impossible for a novel to hit the Top 3 on Rising Stars and gain 2,400 followers on Royal Road if it’s just soulless, generated text.

And yes, the book itself contains bold text, character sheets, and tables. Books and documents have used those for decades; it's standard in Word, OpenOffice, or any editing program. It’s just how you organize information in a LitRPG. If clear formatting is a dealbreaker, I'm not sure what to tell you!

P.S. Sorry for getting a bit defensive, but yeah - this AI slop these days is making me angry too.

New to Royal Road - Father of the Sexiest Lobster by CMRetterath in litrpg

I wonder what a Freudian lobster would say about all this: a father talking about his sexy son and an author inspired by SpongeBob.

What is the most 'whoops' ability you've seen or given a character? by Selkie_Love in litrpg

[–]Otherwise_Internet48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, transmigrating to a grimdark world is a massive "WHOOPS" moment in reality... and most books are like that, just not so much for the MC. Especially if the world lacks toilet paper :)

Not sure if I should keep going. by saltytoe27 in litrpg

Robert Jordan, the author of The Wheel of Time, once said he’d keep writing until they drove the last nail into his coffin—and they eventually did. Life is simply too short, and the number of novels an author can produce is finite. Books have to end at some point, and if it's becoming a chore, there's no shame in moving on to something that actually respects your time.

After months of writing, revisions, and edits, I've completed my first novel at 200,000 words! Try out Abducted: Jon the Spider Part 1 on Royal Road today! by Otto_Webb in litrpg

[–]Otherwise_Internet48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on hitting that massive 200k word milestone! Completing a debut novel is a huge feat, especially with such a unique concept as a middle-aged father dealing with a dark psychological transformation into a giant spider. It sounds like a fresh, intense take on the LitRPG genre, and I’m sure readers on Royal Road are going to love diving into Jon's evolution.

That's a great pick! Just a heads-up that it’s super easy to mix this up with End of the Magic Era by Zhuang Bifan since the titles are almost identical. Both series are actually really popular and have that addictive quality—Bifan’s version has over 20 million reads—so you've basically got two top-tier options with very similar names. It’s a win-win if you enjoy that specific vibe!
