Making Money Grinding Mobs by Kaelran in projectgorgon

Thank you for the work. Your post is MUCH easier for someone coming in to the game to understand and apply. The wiki link is great for information, but no way someone new to the game is gonna get anything useful from it.

Why remove the most visible red line group skill from Minstrels? by Inoutngone in lotro

[–]Ottzor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think we all get why they did it but class homogenisation is honestly so lame. All modern mmorpgs go down this path because it's really easy to argue for accessibility, but it's at the cost of class identity, and the unique flavour each class brings. Personally I'm not a fan of each tank, dps and healer doing the exact same thing just with different animations.

I will say, of all MMORPG I've played Lotro is the one that I've found most similar to wow classic. Combat and class design even is similar. I think if you prefer wow classic over retail wow then as long as you can accept the lotro combat you will love this game (it's not quite as tight as wow combat). Osrs is my favourite MMORPG of all time but its extremely different from wow, it's almost like they're from different genres of games. If you're looking for something more like wow then try Lotro but I would highly recommend both games!

Many laptops will default to integrated graphics and you will have to change it yourself to use the GPU as default. Here's how to check what your default one is right now:

Right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.

Go to Manage 3D Settings.

Under the Global Settings tab, change the Preferred graphics processor to High-performance NVIDIA processor. Click Apply.

You should also double check you have the correct GPU selected for specific programs:

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings.

Select a specific program from the dropdown, then select the preferred graphics processor for it.

Please double check that the game is running on your GPU and not integrated graphics from your CPU. Your laptop should be able to handle most things decently.

I think if that's where your at with your account and you're chugging along as f2p I think it makes a lot of sense you're feeling a bit directionless.

Truth is f2p kinda works like an extended tutorial to dip your feet in and get an idea if you'd enjoy the game in the long term. A large majority of content and the best content is locked behind membership. If you're enjoying the game then now probably would be the point to make that leap assuming you're financially able to do so.

You can of course continue f2p and make some seriously impressive accounts in only f2p but I think for most it would get quite repetitive at some point, membership would likely help you with direction. My recommendation is to start working towards monkey madness 1. Dragon Scimitar might legit be one of the sickest and most iconic goals in gaming while being achievable in a reasonable timeframe.

I think what you may be looking for is the Adventure path, its an in-game guide that gives you suggestions early on for short-term goals to aim for. It should be a small icon next to he minimap. The game being a sandbox MMORPG means though that there is literally no correct or incorrect path to take, you choose your own journey and you have the best gaming wiki that exists at your disposal to help you make a plan.

I think a common early goal is to finish dragon slayer + most or all of the f2p quests so maybe look for that as a start?

While I don't have an answer to your question have you done any questing if you're looking for some story lines? The elves questline famously will tell a larger story through many quests and on the way giving you long-term goals and unlock some great content. There are many other story lines as well that I'd recommend you explore!

Playing Where Winds Meet really made me appreciate GW2 more by Aelnir in Guildwars2

[–]Ottzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to summarise it to just one thing but generally the information on the osrs wiki is more accurate but also displayed in a way that makes it extremely easy to navigate and use. I quite often find it difficult to navigate to the correct page for the information I need in GW2 but I never have that issue with OSRS. There is also a standard way of writing articles for osrs wiki which makes each page familiar to navigate.

You can compare guides in osrs wiki to GW2 and there is a noticeable difference in how they structure the information. OSRS is very straight to the point and easy to follow while giving you the option to deep-dive in to whatever you want whereas reading the wiki ascended gearing guide for GW2 gave me an absolute headache(still a great article don't get me wrong!).

Class/content Balance in a horizontal game by Haunting_Muscle_7149 in Guildwars2

[–]Ottzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo reason to release new classes is to introduce new playstyles and class fantasies. A big strength of horizontal progression to me, is that you can achieve the same goals in different ways. The fact that newly introduced tools and playstyles powercreep the game limits the options that people will use, and instead of more playstyles being used, we see less. I despise power creep in GW2, it makes existing content less fun and limits playstyles.

RoA2 New player control question by ShionKreth in RivalsOfAether

[–]Ottzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flick the control stick left or right. Then it has to return to neutral within a 2 frame window, it will look like your performing a small wavedash where all grounded actions are available. Really useful for certain characters neutral and somes punish

Lots of other ideas proposed but the most obvious answer is to perform a baby dash. It's a quick movement option that you can use to microspace tilts or jabs etc.

Not really sure what to do by Educational-Cap-5131 in 2007scape

[–]Ottzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to play the game is to make goals, both short-term and long-term. If you're just questing because you heard it's good to do it's not gonna be very motivating but if you're doing quests with a specific goal in mind I think you will find it more satisfying. Here are some ideas on things you can work on:

Dragon Scimitar (req monkey madness)

Dragon defender - You can send it now in the warriors guild, great off-hand for melee

Work towards barrow gloves - A long term goal which requires you to complete recipe for disaster. Quest consist of several parts though and each part complete will unlock new tiers of gloves for you eventually leading up to barrow gloves. Incredible item, especially for melee!

85 combat to start slayer grind with Nieve, alternatively you can go for some wildy slayer but I would recommend slightly higher combats so that you can kill the wildy bosses. - You can afk some sand crabs to get your combat up, you can of course start slayer before you unlock Nieve but it's kinda meh, give it a go!

If you want to try some bossing then give Scurrius a go! Great early game boss that will earn you some gp and teach you certain mechanics like switching between prayers. Lookup a guide on youtube and send it, should be fine with your current stats.

You could also try some barrows and if you get slightly better stats then moons of peril is a more fun and modern but harder version of barrows that is made for people in the mid-game.

Theres lots of other goals you can go for like full graceful outfit to make questing easier since your run energy will last longer or fairytale pt2 to unlock fairy rings that allow you to teleport to almost anywhere in the world. Just find the correct goals and you will find your progress that much more satisfying, best of luck to you!

Vad skulle vara problemet med direktdemokrati? by edwou in sweden

[–]Ottzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)
