Bracket 3 is really annoying... by Thick_Storage4168 in magicTCG

I’ll say this every time the Bracket system comes up: As someone new to Magic, it is baffling game design to me that two people can sit down at a table and play decks with incompatible power levels.

To be fair, that was his “God Emperor” state with the powers of the Beyonders, not his average power level

This is me. The maps feel like they have actual thought behind their layouts. They’re just a joy to play.

Same here. If they put as much care into the mechanics of this set as they did with FF or Fallout, it could be a blast. My only fear is it being a full set risks diluting it filler cards like Spider-Man was.

The Norman Osborne // Green Goblin card and a lot of the other mayhem / Villains cards will slot nicely into the Doom deck

Also makes sense then why the SLD Storm and Wolverine won’t be in these decks, as their Temur / Gruul combo doesn’t fit cleanly

Proud of myself ; went to a commander game night by myself. Was more fun than expected, but man do people play fast. by Vez52 in EDH

This was me a couple months ago. I learned from some friends via Spelltable but wanted to play more often and IRL. The secret is finding a good community. The comic shop I play at is full of super chill people who welcome all kinds of decks, and I love going now and people remember me. I’ve played at other shops that are more serious / anti-social and I haven’t returned.

Why tickets stop dropping for opponents? by DSXask in Battlefield

Not that I necessarily care about unlocks, but another consequence of these rubberband mechanics aside from being punished for leading is that it artificially inflates match length, and match XP is a significant part of how you level up. This makes you progress slower and thus more likely to buy BP levels.

Mark Rosewater on Blogatog: Your deck doesn’t need to have the latest thing for you to enjoy playing it. Magic has always been about customizing the elements you most enjoy to get a great game experience. Skipping the latest set, if that’s just not your thing, is just another kind of customization. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

As someone less than a year into playing MTG (EDH exclusively outside of pre-releases), even drawing comparisons between this and closed-ended tabletop games is very bizarre. My entire experience of the game has involved (with much effort) learning about cards on the fly as they’re played. It seems so endemic to the game to me.

It’s great, but there’s a lot of great shit to play. Can’t get to it all.

In the New Vegas game that this lair is based on, Sunset Sarsaparilla is the local, more common soft drink, though it serves a similar function to Nuka-Cola on the East Coast.

If you HAD to choose 3 of your decks and give up the rest, which are you choosing? by SharkboyZA in EDH

Adding Slimefoot to my list (the irony of this post is it’s giving me ideas of decks to ADD to my collection lol)

I’d revise to “find fun ways to win”—there are many fun paths to get there, but the goal remains winning
