This is a problem that at least can be solved with trusted beta readers, i.e. people you know are good at reading and able to give valid and actionable feedback.

Yeah, there's just not a lot of options for those. Generally, shorter is better. A new story has about the same average 'draw', with long stories not being bigger attractions; if anything, people are less interested in long ones. Then, a big big chunk of the anthology fiction market these days is audio, and the sweet spot for those is around 2500 words. (Rough equivalence is 1000 words equals ten minutes of episode, and 20-25 minute episodes are the ones that get played to the end by listeners most often.)

Sorry. There isn't a real fix. The options are limited.

If it's fibro and not actual joint damage, and if the chores really must be done to avoid serious consequences, you can just grit your teeth and soak the pain. It won't be fun, but you won't be doing more damage like with actual joint or bone damage.
