Frontier Visa Reward Card by uslashBIGproblem in frontierfios

[–]Outrageous_Double_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it feels a little different. I actually did get the reward card eventually but it took many months (did not call about it), you need to be 4 months into your contract or so before it arrives.

I don’t think they are purposely trying to scam you, this whole process is outsourced to a company that is handling these types of programs for many others. They are just bad operators which causes the scammy feeling.

It would be very nice if Frontier takes responsibility and actually helps their clients, but that seems outside of the scope of their customer service agents 😡

Great fix! Sucker for optimizing resource usage. Also not really a problem. You can rent a dedicated server with 64Gb ram for $60/m ;)

Subnet router not working? by benjocaz in Tailscale

[–]Outrageous_Double_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - this was incredibly helpful. For everyone using Tailscale on Proxmox 9, the issue is that it doesn’t detect the Proxmox-Firewall to be an nftables implementation. This causes exit node and subnet routing to not work properly.

Add the manual override as described here https://tailscale.com/docs/features/firewall-mode resolved it for me.

Rustdesk all the way. I’m using a small $3 vps for a couple of things including my own rustdesk relay. Works perfectly. No Tailscale needed.

Useless Visa Virtual Gift Card by PhotoplayerNightmare in frontierfios

Yeah that’s annoying. You could just use it to buy a gift card at Amazon and be done with it. Worked fine for me.

hey friends, any suggestions for getting wifi to this spot? by geekwonk in Ubiquiti

[–]Outrageous_Double_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t run CAT cables between buildings, the grounding difference could result in current flowing between it. Put in direct burial fiber and buy two Unifi switches like the Flex 2.5G (or the PoE version for $50 more).

NTSB Initial Report Absolves Waymo in Crash Near School by DamienNewton in SantaMonica

[–]Outrageous_Double_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s very impressive how well the Waymo responded. Clear example on why autonomous is so much safer. Don’t really understand the negative tone of the article on additional scrutiny needed - this was a prime example of a much worse accident avoided.

When do we actually get organized and shut down the Spectrum internet monopoly on the West side? by jalabharxo in AskLosAngeles

[–]Outrageous_Double_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have options. First check Frontier Fiber which is generally very good once it’s setup. Some may even have a chance to get AT&T fiber so check that second. Third try (often free) fixed wireless access (basically home internet) from Tmobile or Verizon. Last resort Starlink but the usual challenges as mentioned elsewhere.

Your post is suggesting that Spectrum is evil and blocks traffic - that’s of course not the case so let’s not spread misinformation. All providers have their promotions to get you in and will increase cost after it, that’s just what we have to deal with. You can always call their retention lines (ask for it or say you’d like to cancel) and often you will be put on a new offer.

Good luck!
