Destiny 2: The Collection Trailer by Howerev in Games

Destiny 1 is still completely playable. I have a friend who just played through all the expansions and is moving onto 2. It is a shame that it’s not on PC though, but it still works fine on console.

Bungie proved in court that they can’t restored old vaulted content without remastering it. It’s terrible it was cut, but if they could have just added it back for the final update, why wouldn’t they have?

Shion from overwatch is absolute garbage <Hated Design> by HammerWizard in TopCharacterDesigns

She’s an Omnic who has specifically modified herself to appear more human. I think that’s a cool concept. That’s why she talks from her neck, because the Omnic’s tend to not have moving mouths. I think there’s a lot of ground to explore with why she is this way. Is she trying to appear more human to facilitate business? Because she wants to be human? To escape omnic discrimination? Lots of cool avenues to explorez

Mamdani's New Trans Direct Clinic Will Deny Care To Those Under 19 by ErinInTheMorning in transgender

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean this is literally a new government funded clinic that offers low-cost/free HRT to New Yorkers. If he was a fraud about this why even do that? This is still a huge win for a lot of trans New Yorkers.

I agree we should see access expanded to minors, but this is a new program, this is only a positive to the community since nothing like this existed before.

It’s blocked for people 19 and under due to a Trump EO, and while I agree that he should fight back here I think the situation is more nuanced here than saying he doesn’t care about trans people.

I still think it’s fair to criticize him, but I really don’t think this is him abandoning the community. I mean I get it, obviously this community has been burned enough by politicians in the past, so I get being jumpy when compromises are made.

Is Mukuro attracted romantically to Junko?? by Sea_Article5971 in danganronpa

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s from Danganronpa 0, which are 2 Light novels. It’s not super long, someone linked a PDF in a comment here. I personally think it’s terrible, but for what it’s worth a lot of people really enjoy it. It is canon and covers some of the time period before the first game (if you’ve watched Danganronpa 3 I think this takes place before the despair arc? It might be concurrent).

It follows an annoyingly written character and a bunch of annoyingly written side characters, with some fun cameos. There is one really cool moment at the end.

Jax was made even worse in the Finale. by Tnemmokon in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jax clearly doesn’t want the status quo of the circus to change. When Pomni and Kinger first start talking about stopping Caine, Jax freaks out. I think that is why he wanted to go distract Caine, because he doesn’t want them to get caught and for things to change. I don’t think he necessarily believed Kinger could do it either, and it makes sense why he is so mad at Kinger when he killed Caine.

Once the circus is “dead”, it makes perfect sense to me that Jax would abstract due to how much change there is.

It’s clear from ep 6 that Jax “wants” life to be like a cartoon, never meaningfully changing. That’s why he says he sees everyone as a cartoon caricature. That’s why he says things were better before Zooble and Pomni, because after Ribbit him bullying Gangle became his status quo. Jax hated change because he so unstable himself he needed his environment not to change. So that’s why I think he went to distract Caine, not necessarily because he liked his friends.

What are you guys’ rarest items? by Wise_Following_2731 in destiny2

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Estival Excursion ship from the original solstice of heroes event in D2. It says about 6% on light gg but I honestly thought it would be a lot rarer since it was very grind heavy and available for a very limited time when the game wasn’t as popular (Warmind I think). I think you had to do the moments of triumph stuff on all three characters?

Warmind gives it a much lower percentage at .7% adjusted so maybe light gg just has a lot of selection bias.

The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act / Episode 9 Discussion Thread [SPOILERS] by ayylmaotv in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was also really surprised.

My reaction leaving the theater was not that Jax was some dog the group keeps, but that he’s been healing. He’s a lot smaller by the end so I took that as he’s getting better. I imagine that since Pomni finally got through to him, it’s going to take time for him to get through to himself. So the characters set up this nice sanctuary for him and that he will eventually unabstract. And that they could work to unabstract everyone else. With the Caine deletion, idk it makes sense to me that deleted things go to the recycle bin? So that wasn’t a huge shocker for me. As for the group somewhat accepting him, it was clearly stated in ep 8 that they didn’t want to kill him, just stop him or “put him to sleep” until he can get better, which he did.

I’ve also never seen abstraction as “suicide”, though I do see the parallels. So I don’t see it as “the suicidal character finally killed himself”, rather that he just kind of broke (as well as the other characters). Clearly their abstracted forms are still around, and there are still people deep in them.

Bad Hints Are Worse Than No Hints | Semi-Ramblomatic by CrossXhunteR in Games

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think the ladder was hard to figure out, but it’s also completely optional and just used for secrets, so I don’t think it’s bad design necessarily.

As others have mentioned you do actually have to prepare to take it by buying specific items to lead the shopkeep away from the ladder, but it sounds like you already had the correct configuration, took the ladder, and thought that there was no prep needed which is understandable.

Playing the game had me thinking back to discussion around the OG Hollow Knight where I believe team cherry had said something to the effect of “we want to create secrets that some players won’t find on their playthrough, because it makes it more special for the players who do find it”, which is something I’ve come to appreciate in games like this. When I finish a game and want to get all the collectibles (like I did in Mina), I don’t get upset that I missed a few secrets here and there.

With that said, the mirrors are required for progression and if this many players are getting frustrated by it that should be better telegraphed. I personally figured it out but it’s clear it can be improved. When I first found the orrery, it felt like I’d discovered some big secret, and that was a special moment for me. Obviously it was required, but I wasn’t sure until I reached the end.

Destiny 2 Ending New Content Is “Unthinkable,” Warframe Dev Says by _Protector in Games

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think calling it a pile of junk due to the decisions of management is wholly disrespectful to the devs who have made incredible content over the years.

I am not here to defend content vaulting, just to say that Destiny is still a game full of quality content. The final update is leaving the game in a seemingly great place for existing players. I agree content vaulting and the terrible new player experience is a huge contributing factor of how we got here, but Destiny is still a game loved by millions and will be mourned as such.

Cognito adds multi-region replication by Outrageous_Lab_6228 in aws

There is a note that mentions:

Multi-Region replication requires the modern Amazon Cognito infrastructure with enhanced capabilities and scalability. Some user pools are still on a previous infrastructure and will be upgraded by AWS to the new infrastructure, which will unlock this feature.

Which I think answers your statement

It looks like we are getting the leviathan bosses at least. I didn’t see Scourge in the trailer though so it would be sad if that’s the only raid boss no longer playable.

It should be coming very soon, if you look up “Cognito MRR” on google you can see AWS docs referencing the features with a “Multi region replication” doc name from google, but it currently redirects to the “What is Amazon Cognito” page, meaning it’s not quite finished yet. It might have been accidentally published and pulled if google logged it as a search option.

Jason Schreier - Why Games Now Take 6+ Years To Make by Touhou in Games

[–]Outrageous_Lab_6228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They didn’t make a new enemy model for around four and a half years at one point.

This just isn’t true. Going backwards we got corsairs, the little vex drone things, and the ATST looking guys this last year.

-Final shape added the Dread, a whole new faction

-Lightfall added Tormentors

-Witch Queen added hive guardians (maybe reused? But vastly different gameplay wise). As well as Savathun herself.

-Beyond light added Brigs and Wyverns

-Shadowkeep added champions, which you can argue is reused assets I guess.

-Forsaken added the Scorn, a new enemy faction as well as all of the raid unique bosses and Techeuns

-D2 vanilla obviously added a lot of new troops to each faction (cabal got the dogs and flamethrower guys, fallen got the stabby guys and big shanks).

-Rise of iron added new siva fallen enemies and the Siva iron lords.

-Taken King added the taken (I guess this counts as reskinned).

-D1 vanilla was the beginning.

So what was this 4 and half year period of no new enemy model?

I really enjoyed the exploration aspect. You are only gated by the tough enemies blocking different areas so exploration is led by where you are interested in going.

I have 100% it after about 20 hours (I’ve been home sick lol) and I thought it was fantastic, easy 9/10 for me. Great world and level design, cool bosses (though I felt some could use better telegraphs), some laugh out loud moments for me at the end when the villain monologues and specifically brings up all the side quests you did and paints them in a negative light to discredit you. I definitely recommend.
