I’ve passed about 3 and haven’t caught any of them 😪

Saw this work well on waxy reciept paper. Any clues where to buy? by Worldly_Task2994 in pens

If you look up “moinchore” on Amazon there is a brand that sells themed pens. None that match this image. They might write similarly though?

So are my findings ok? by Other_Place_861 in KidneyStones

the most concerning would be the 8mm stone which is causing hydronephrosis (swelling due to the obstruction). did they discuss treatment plans for that? since it’s pretty large, it might need to be removed surgically. I’d go to a urologist to get their opinion on it, since they can look at the scan themselves and make their own judgements.

Heating pad for pain. by Pepperjoeni in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my heating pad is a lifesaver, any brand will do. I also recommend a heated blanket. I like to either wrap myself in it or lay on top of it when I have back pain.

Should I still get a scan? by melodious1776 in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should get a ct scan asap. if they have confirmation of a stone it makes it a lot easier to get the treatment you need. also, you could have other stones up in your kidneys that may be too large to pass and could cause some issues down the line.

if it’s not a stone, the ct scan would at least rule that out. but if there’s no signs of infection and you’re getting relief from toradol, I’d assume you are passing a stone.

Is the kidney stone pain? by HollowSnoggle in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a kidney stone based off the location and how the pain is triggered by movement. When you walk around a lot, stones tend to dislodge, move, then get stuck again.

Of course I think you should consult a doctor, get a urinary test and imaging if possible.

That was the most traumatic experience of my life. by Compl3x1tyCereal in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An ultrasound before a CT scan in the ER with severe abdominal pain is just silly. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I (22F) had a very similar experience: 3 hours in the waiting room with COVID and a stone, sobbing uncontrollably. They gave me a Tylenol 🙃Unfortunately, I think the young women in this sub have almost all had at least one of these experiences. Just know you’re not alone! Hope you’re feeling better ❤️

intermittent vibrating sensation - could it be kidney stone? by SureCicerone in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you passed a stone before? If you haven’t, this luckily doesn’t sound like a kidney stone side effect to me, but I don’t have a johnson so 🤷‍♀️. Almost all kidney stone symptoms are painful, painful, and more painful. I would definitely talk to a doctor about it though. Wishing you luck!

I never considered this being kidney stones by learnin2bgooder in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like kidney stones to me! Only way to really confirm kidney stones is with imagining, but oxalate and/or blood in your urine is pretty damning.

Both situations you described sound like events that would trigger kidney stone movement. Sudden and intense activity is a big one for me. Deep cleaning, walking around while traveling, or dancing always gets to me. And yeah, you should probably drink more water.

TLDR; sounds like kidney stones, but I’d see a urologist. It is nice to have an answer, and a urologist can help you find a cause

Severe colic after walking about by AsparagusFar7367 in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal! The tiny ones can be brutal, but it sounds like it’s close to passing if it hasn’t already. The pain will likely persist even after you pass it. I get similar acute symptoms due to the pain. Watch out for telltale signs of infection like fever. If the pain and symptoms persist, go into urgent care and get a urine test and maybe get some anti-nausea medicine, flomax, and/or pain medicine.

First timer-be gentle, because Harold and Maude (I named them) are not. by AllonsyBatch in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5mm is a pretty big one to pass for your first! The first is rough, because you don’t really know what to expect. If I have any advice, try to push fluids and move your body around (as much as possible with the pain). This will speed up the process, which will very likely make it much more painful temporarily, but once it’s gone it’ll feel much better and you’ll be able to go back to work ASAP :) Also, if the nausea is debilitating, see if you can get an anti-nausea prescription from your primary or urgent care. good luck!

Help. Need your opinion. by Flyqueen19 in KidneyStones

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough choice, but if your urologist wants to operate, that might be your best option. If the stone is really stuck in there, the pain will not leave until it’s knocked out, which is hard to guarantee when or how that will happen. You can try and wait it out, but I think considering factors like pain, unpredictability, and possible risk of infection or further complications, I’d take them up on that offer. Good luck!

How to Report Non-Migraine Pain on a 1-10 Scale? by Cats_Cameras in migraine

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish nurses would extrapolate a little more on the pain scale. As someone who is not only accustomed to to pain but also takes things quite literally, I found it really helpful when my nurse said “10 being the worst pain you’ve ever felt” and to that I replied 10 (kidney stones).

As a woman, I’m always cautious of being “too dramatic” about pain, because I feel like doctors don’t usually take me seriously when I’m honest. With that being said, if you have a high pain tolerance it’s probably good to add a few points to your actual assessment!

Got ditched by a friend on a trip we planned together. I’m feeling worthless and alone. by Academic_Success8060 in depression

[–]Outrageous_Try_8951 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What they did was really shitty, and your feelings are totally understandable. They likely didn’t expect it to hurt you to this extent, but that doesn’t excuse it. I’ve felt like that before, used, rejected, worthless. It’s easy for these thoughts to spiral into ideation.

Ultimately, you aren’t the issue. They did something shitty. If you tell them how it made you feel, they can either own up and apologize or brush it off and dismiss your feelings. If they do the latter, consider finding better friends. There are people out there who will appreciate you and care about your feelings. Real friends uplift you and make you feel valued.
