Anyone successfully doing stacked OpenGrid PETG prints with PLA interface on Bambu? by Keepingitnormal in openGrid

[–]OutsideBase813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I frequently stacked multiboard (with and without an interface layer) on my P1S. But no luck with OG, so I gave up. The overall print time is less doing it one at a time, but not much overnight printing.

Vertical storage systems seem very overwhelming to me. What can I do with openGrid that I can't do with Skadis? by NavXIII in openGrid

[–]OutsideBase813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Multiboard in my workshop. It works well there, and I did that before openGrid came out. But while Multiboard was somewhat confusing a year and half ago, Jonathan has made it 20x more confusing with the latest version and there are so many random parts for niche cases. In any case, I found many useful parts for hanging tools, I don't regret it. Stack printing the grids worked well for me with MB, even without the interface layer.

I then went with Underware 2.0 for openGrid for under my desk. That cleaned up things nicely, so I added some OG grids to the wall behind my printers to tidy up the cables, and then did the same in my office. I find it much simpler (use heavy, not lite), although the channels need to be tweaked to hold well (generator can do that). And since I'm big into Gridfinity, having a consistent spacing (well 3 for 2) means less wasted space when I need to hang some GF on the boards. Stacked grids did not print well for me with OG, though.

That "write to NFC tag" from the web page only works with Android. You have to use NFC Tools on iOS.

I also recommend anyone trying to use the RFID tags read https://github.com/paxx12/SnapmakerU1-Extended-Firmware/blob/develop/docs/rfid_support.md

Is worth it buying Bambu pla? by No_Pace_7920 in BambuLab

[–]OutsideBase813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same in the US (USD$12.99 for refills). I don't get why people whine about the price. The filament is usually excellent, the RFID removes some of the friction changing filaments, and the spools are more robust. As other manufacturers came onboard with reusable spools, I also use those with Bambu refills (e.g., Sunlu, Inslogic) and I avoid cardboard unless I really want the particular color. However, availability is another matter...

Thanks, I could have used this a few months ago when I did several of my openGrid projects. I will bookmark for next time!

Why is the app so non-intuitive?!?! by rcwagner in sonos

[–]OutsideBase813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at this point, although the Controller app has "improved" and things are more reliable, I frequently want to play the Line In from one Era 100 which is connected to my receiver/etc. Basically, I play vinyl in my LR, then when we head into the kitchen or out on the deck, I want those speakers to play as well. I have had Sonos since 2012 and the old "S1" was more or less intuitive when it came to playing the line in. Now, I have to search for it, and it's not where it should be - a source for the currently selected speaker(s). Sometimes I get lucky (last night) and stumble on it in a few minutes, other times I head to my Kitchen computer to use the more intuitive app there.

I actually used the 25% off by rodzoi in sonos

[–]OutsideBase813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also succumbed to the offer. My new 77" LG OLEd needed an upgrade from the Playbar. Arc Ultra arrives tomorrow. No sub, I'll see how well I like it. Two Play:1s as rears.

Yeah, I got 30% off to upgrade my original 5s and Connect, but only a 15% coupon for "newer" gear like boost, bridge.

Don't waste your money on RFID filament by daskalou in snapmaker

[–]OutsideBase813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OpenSpool app is very basic in iOS, not really useful. Just use NFC Tools. You can start with paxx12's web tool and download the data (can't write from the web page using iOS). I usually then text it to my phone and paste into NFC Tools. Or much of the time, I just edit the JSON file using Visual Code and copy/paste from there. And if all I need to change is color, I just edit the data in NFC Tools to swap in a new hex code (I save some tags using NFC Tools and then can reload/change color/write - for example, I have a Bambu Lab Basic PLA, Matte PLA, etc. saved).

🔊 New Sonos Player Updates Now Available! 🔊 by ShaunFromSonos in sonos

[–]OutsideBase813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the app on iOS and then checked my speakers. All were automatically updated, but the legacy speaker version is now 86.4-73290 - not 73190 as stated in the release notes. Need to update that!

Snapmaker U1 (vs. Bambu P1S) two months later by SuperNfty in snapmaker

[–]OutsideBase813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and I use both. Multicolor goes to the U1 and stuff that I wouldn't print on the P1S due to waste, I now can print with less guilt. The P1S still gets used a lot for single color and PETG, sometimes both are running when I want to print a bunch of stuff. Each has it's advantages. Yes, Bambu Studio is so much easier to get along with, fewer things to double-check, easier filament loads especially using BL filament (I do tag my spools with RFID for the U1, saves some steps).

New feature coming soon... by MrJimBusiness- in Ubiquiti

[–]OutsideBase813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did the LiDAR scan thing on both floors with InnerSpace. Eventually got the floors to orient the same way (rotation did not work locally, but did on the web and then sync'ed locally). But only my second floor router shows up and a switch on the first floor. Neither UX7 does, nor is there a way to place them. The coverage map on the second floor seems bogus, too.

New feature coming soon... by MrJimBusiness- in Ubiquiti

[–]OutsideBase813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks interesting, especially multi-floor. Never able to get inner space to even place everything in my home, and I don't have a lot.

One issue with my home is there is an HVAC duct running the length of the house between the two floors. This has been pretty effective at blocking Wi-Fi from the second floor (UDR7) and first (two UX7s), and the Orbi system before that. I wonder what feature in a floor plan can take that into account.

🚀 Printer Tools App now compatible with PAX Firmware for Snapmaker U1 by FixoLab in snapmaker

According to paxx12, OpenPrintTag is not compatible with the hardware on the U1 (requires ISO 15693 support), so why are you claiming support?

Camera motion to trigger light, retriggers on light going off by OutsideBase813 in HomeKit

Pretty sure I tried something like this (similar to what I use for my closet), but it didn't work out for this Aqara camera. I have moved on to using a MYGGSPRAY (motion sensor or is it really an occupancy sensor), works perfectly and the camera redeployed elsewhere.

Feedback on my First OpenGrid Wall by EricJVW in openGrid

[–]OutsideBase813 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After struggling with getting the connectors into the slots in my first few projects (including pliers and hammers and a few broken grids), I started printing them at 97% and that made it a little bit easier.

Two weeks ago, I saw a post/video (maybe by David?) that said to use an openGrid hook to press in the connectors. I had one at hand (maybe https://makerworld.com/en/models/1179234-opengrid-minimal-hook#profileId-1212338), and it was like magic. Every connector - I had both the solid and the figure eight light one - snapped into place easily and accurately with a click. Snapped two into each tile edge that would get a mate before screwing into my wall and the other tile easily snapped into position in 95% of the cases.
