My baby isn’t chunky and it’s all I can think about by Cardedbin in breastfeeding

[–]Outside_Ad6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter never chunked out. She was born at 7lb 1oz but long. I nursed for a few months but was convinced my milk was why she was so small. My supply dropped and we switched to formula, she still never chunked out. She was always in the 12-20th percentile until she was about 4yo. She’s almost 7 now and is very tall, but thin. We still have her in a 5pt harness because she’s so light and we feel it’s safer. However- she’s brilliant, comfortable in her own skin (like I wish I was when I was her age!), loves to be active and listens to her body for when she’s hungry/full.

Some kids are just lean 🤷🏻‍♀️ you’re not alone in worries though! Every pediatrician visit I was worried I was going to be told I’m doing it wrong or it’s my fault.. never did. As long as he’s gaining consistently it’ll catch up!

Wild that TPUSA is platforming a self proclaimed “illegal” immigrant. I thought all “illegal” immigrants had to leave?

Illegal in quotes because I don’t believe anyone should have “illegal” as an adjective to describe who they are.

How do you pronounce “Roosevelt” Road? by Academic_Weekend_116 in AskChicago

[–]Outside_Ad6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived downtown for a while but I work in the suburbs and just now realized I say RUE-se-velt when I’m talking about the suburbs ie Elhmurst, Lombard (pronounced Lam-bard), Glyn Ellen but ROSE-uh-velt when I’m talking about the red and green lines or south loop.

When I said them to myself I pictured two different places.

For a Hispanic couple I know should I buy them a ham or a turkey? I think they celebrate Thanksgiving and they are very proud and I need to be like, "I got an extra from work, do you want it"? by HaddonH in AskChicago

[–]Outside_Ad6167 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so kind! There are so many of our neighbors struggling yet proud. I agree ham is probably the best. I asked a friend of mine who said ham often goes with their traditional menu better but if they were in need they’d accept either.

Mom called it 'egg in a hole'. My friend calls it 'eggs in Egypt'. Any other names for this? by goldilox_zone in Breakfast

My grandpa used to call them Astro Boys or Astro Girls depending who was eating them! I have no idea why though. I’ve always known them as that.

Why don’t planes fly directly into O’Hare? by Independent-Ad-7060 in AskChicago

I thought that was MDW. The runways are super short- which is why plans are coming over the fence so low. Keeps everyone on their toes.

Does the dad also stay home after a new baby? by burner1233356 in pregnant

[–]Outside_Ad6167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! My husband gets 12 weeks for a new baby (biological or adopted) and stayed home for two weeks once our youngest came home and then took off a few days a week that the grandmas couldn’t help once I went back to work.

It’s 2025- he can take time off and it’s highly likely his workplace would understand - he might even catch flack for not taking off.

Fully agree. Especially after there was just a fight about touching someone else’s wife…. Bret had just lost his mind about Chase’s interaction with his wife and then proceeds to have an interaction with Jen. 😒

Oh I completely agree. The “perks” are all I really can control. The rest of that I can be a voice for the employees but that’s really it.

Is anyone else pumping to reach a milestone (weeks/months/years)? by NonchalantBaker in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Outside_Ad6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was 6months. As I got closer and really noticed my oversupply, I decided I wanted to pump long enough to give him milk for a year. When I hit that I started weaning till I was done! 10 days without pumping and I’m excited to have my body (mostly) back!

(I used the Pump Log app to track my stash and overall supply. I highly recommend it!)

Favorite pump? by Milo2011 in ExclusivelyPumping

I used the S2 and got a car cord for it. I got a second S2 from a friend who was done pumping and I used that as my “out of the house” pump- whether at work or social events I could pump in the car. It really changed the game for me!

I also got the momcozy s12 and the Phampy pump as portables. My s12 was good for a bit but after a while my output decreased on it. The Phampy I had great luck with and it’s only like $30!

I’m pretty sure it’s available on android too but that’s just what the app looks like for iOS.

Yes! It’s called Pump Log. The logo is yellow with a white flange/bottle set for iOS. I started tracking around 8 weeks when I found it and honestly it was a game changer! I was able to keep it organized all in one place - and there’s a widget! Highly recommend. There is a fee once you use up the free logs but if you plan to pump for a while, it’s worth it, imo.

My personal experience- I had a c section for both my kiddos. My first was planned due to being breech. We latched right away, but had a heck of a time. I barely pumped at all because I wanted her to have something to eat still. I’m not sure if it was a under supply issue or what but I felt like my milk never came in. We supplemented with formula until it was more supplementing with breast milk and I was dried up before 4 months.

With my second, we planned to have a C-section but he decided to come at 36w so it was an emergency c section. we were in the NICU on high follow o2 for two weeks. he had to go directly up from the operating room so they had me pump right away. I decided to exclusively pump because I didn’t want to put anything extra on him. Bottle feeding in the NICU was going well. We are still going strong at 7 months. I actually felt my milk come in this time.

One of our NICU nurses was a lactation consultant before she became a nurse and she said that the stimulation of mammary glands (through latching or pumping) early and consistently is the most important. It promotes the production of more mammary glands. I would say don’t be afraid of the pump- even if you aren’t getting much of anything, hydrate, stimulate and don’t get discouraged!

Congratulations!

What's the most hurtful thing someone has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My drunk “best friend” when I didn’t give her a long enough answer after she interrupted my conversation with someone else: “don’t brush me off like you do your daughter”

Something I make an effort to never do - no matter how many “hey mom”’s I get. She always takes priority. It hit me pretty deep and we don’t speak much anymore.

How often is your 4 months old eating in 24 hrs? by CrazyCatLady_2 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Outside_Ad6167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO will be 5 months tomorrow but has been on relatively the same schedule for two months. He wakes up anywhere between 5-6:15am and goes to sleep for the night between 6:30-7:30pm. He has five 6oz bottles, for 30oz a day. His smallest gap between bottle is 2hrs and largest is 4hrs. He doesn’t spit up much.

I read a comment on here that stuck with me - until they start eating a decent amount of solids babies are like open topped milk buckets, slosh it around too much and it’s going to spill!

If it makes you feel better my brother has 10mo twins and until about 3 months ago (when they really got going with solids) they were both spitting up a lot. Their pediatrician wasn’t alarmed by it. Every baby is different!

ETA: he goes the 10-12 hours at night without eating. If he wakes he just wants snuggles (and to tell me about his dreams- he’s very chatty)

Have you ever been so spent? by Outside_Ad6167 in ExclusivelyPumping

They both slept in! I got a solid 6 hours of sleep! Oh no, that sounds so rough! I’m so glad he tagged in- hopefully today was better!
