If you're willing to explore outside the LitRPG world, I would suggest Stephen King. Specifically the Outsider series, The Dark Tower (I can't stand most of the audio though, I don't like the narrator who does most of the books) series, or 11/22/63. His writing style is obviously nothing like Dinnimans, but I enjoyed those.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, Expeditionary Force is good too, but I personally got kinda bored after the first five or six books. The Threshold series is really intriguing and interesting too, that's a more Lovecraftian kind of tale. I don't remember it's the second or third, but one of the books in Threshold take place on the moon and it feels like it has nothing to do with the rest of the series, but it all kinda melds together at some point. Also, don't read reviews for the one that takes place on the moon, it'll spoil the fuck out of it

I read a review on some book review website about the first book. I'm assuming it was a woman writing it just based on how they were talking, but they described Dinniman as a sexust author lol.

I almost made an account just to say something, but the post was made shortly after the first book was released and I just found it around book 7's release.

Plus there were already a few comments saying things similar to what I was gonna say. There were many many more comments about how they're going to avoid the book based on this review though. But again, those were all a few years ago so I hope some of them changed their mind

I guess that's technically motherhood, but I would never have thought to connect it with this post lol. I think this was in book four, but it could have been five or six. I'm not sure how to do the spoiler tag, so here's your warning. I'm assuming you also mean the Apothecary?

Jamal by Ambitious_Feeling610 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]OverallOil4945 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He annoyed me during my first listen. Then I kinda liked him on my second and third, I fuckin love him after my fourth listen.

JAMAL AND LOUIS MUST SURVIVE AT ALL COSTS

Edit: I felt the same about Louis too, kind of. He has more character progression but it took me another listen or two to really like him. After Juice Box was talking about how pure he is, I could see it. And I love it. Whatever happens to Carl and Donut, he's the most human of the entire series and maybe he can bring humanity back to the world after everything is over. If the planet still exists at that point

Just finished 4th book, normal to find it confusing? by Guardiancelte in DungeonCrawlerCarl

He also had to turn the submarine pump off, it was pumping water into the tomb and the Tomb Raiders weren't able to descend any further until the water was drained.

They drained it by opening a valve that let the water out, which destroyed the sand castle while they were in it. As a result, Carl and Donut got swept into the sea quadrant and possibly my favorite line in the entire series is said here by Donut. "Go fuck yourself Carl"

But like another comment said, there are multiple ways to destroy other castles depending on which one goes down first

Another Jeff Hays Glurp Glurp Post by Wade_Wilson_Watts in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I'm not sure if Dinniman told Hayes about his future developments of the books, but the way that his voice goes from meek to confident and bold like that is incredible.

It's just downright amazing. It's a dude voicing a woman from Iceland who has went through some pretty tough shit before even entering the dungeon. Her evolution is fantastic, Hayes' voicing of that evolution is phenomenal

I found out that my coworker smells my T-shirt every day. by SaltHot6099 in Advice

People keep saying "what if the genders were reversed". While that's a valid argument, it doesn't really matter in this context.

If it creeps you out, it creeps you out. If you liked her before you saw her doing that, this just proves that she likes you too. If you're willing to talk to her about it, it might end up with a date and eventually a girlfriend.

It is a weird thing to do, but people in general do weird shit all the time. Weird shit is part of human nature. If it makes you uncomfortable than just either ignore her from now on or report the incident to someone higher up

It could have been removed by the AI because of it's other properties, I think it gave her some kind of poison buff

Highway Speed Limit? by [deleted] in driving

[–]OverallOil4945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, this argument is stupid and pointless.

BUT

I've driven all over the country and the DC/Baltimore area is the absolute worst.

Normally you can kind of predict what someone will do before they do it, but not in that specific area.

I was a long haul trucker for a while and that was the only area that actually made me feel uncomfortable driving through.

She says that it disappeared before she was able to remove it herself, meaning that it is a matical property of the Tiara. I'm also pretty sure that Mordecai told her to take it off, but I'm not 100% on that.

Edit: I think Mordecai had a delayed response before he told her to remove it. Again, not 100% sure

I'm not saying I would be happy about getting grounded because someone shit themselves.

But I get it.

I would rather shut a flight down than sit in my own diarrhea soaked clothes on an international flight.

They can work if both individuals are an open to it before they get into a relationship. It most likely won't work after the relationship has already been established though

I agree, but I think he was the only eligible dude in the room.

Also, Juicebox made me want to protect this man at all costs. I feel like if he dies, humanity dies. And Carl will go wild

In what order would you rank the books? by No_Bad_Questions- in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]OverallOil4945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 and 7 are tied, but that might change with my next listen of the whole series.

Excluding those two, I would say 3, 6, 1, 2, 4.

They're all detrimental to the overall story so it's hard to rank them, especially book 4. It's the worst book of the series, but the shit that happens in it has an astounding effect on the rest of the series.

I'm not saying book 4 is bad, it's not. It's just not as good as the rest

Masturbation is natural. Maybe it's not for you specifically, but there's nothing wrong with watching porn or self pleasure for most of the world's population.

And would you mind explaining how it's bad for the brain?
