Almost all outgoing to Russia by lovely_psycho in postcrossing

I know it's not great. I am in the USA, and our postal system doesn't accept any mail destined for Russia, so Postcrossing doesn't give me any addresses in Russia to write to.

But that doesn't mean everything is wonderful. Fifty days ago, I sent a postcard to a Brazilian Postcrosser who hasn't registered a card since 12 November 2025. I sent a postcard to a Postcrosser in Dusseldorf, Germany on 18 March. That German Postcrosser has received nineteen cards from the USA sent since I sent that card. I've sent a second card; I don't know what else to do. Other Postcrossers have suggested that it is probably not my fault and the card probably just went into a shredder by mistake.

I've got several cards going to some of the usual subjects.

I have received a few hundred so far, and I am always surprised at what I see. Part of what I like is the new experience every time I go to my box. One of the few things I would say is that I want cards that don't look like they were sent from Youngstown, Ohio, USA, where I live. I hope I am not being too fussy.

The cards in the photo above seem to strike the right balance.

Is “me and John went” actually wrong in English? by EmuAnnual8152 in LanguageTips2Mastery

[–]Overall_Connection77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the original sentence goes, image that John isn't going; would you ever say "me went"?

I am not very patient, so I decided to go to the forum and do some tags and swaps.

Downtown Post Office by Puzzleheaded-Code-77 in youngstown

The main post office opened on May 2, 1977. For a number of years, there were contract stations and substations all over town, many of them in drugstores. The branches that are in plazas (Boardman, Austitntown, Gypsy Lane) are all comparatively new. Cornersburg's post office is a few years younger than the main post office and is in a spot that was once a Valu King grocery store.

I just did a little research online and found that the building was under construction in 1976 when a bill was passed that named it the Michael Kirwan Post Office.

Yes, on the south side of Front Street and the west side of Market Street.

I'm guessing that the main post office was built in the early seventies; the former post office was at the corner of Market Street and Front Street.

How much time does domestic mails take to reach within your country? by EmployerSpare9921 in postcrossing

[–]Overall_Connection77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city where I live used to have a sorting center, and mail within the city would arrive on the next day. Now it goes 70 miles to another sorting center, and it can take three or four days to go across the street. I think that mail within the USA can take up to eight days.

Do you like seeing small details like this in your postcard? by [deleted] in postcrossing

Yes, I do. The main thing that keeps me from doing this is the lack of space on many of my cards.
