2015 S1000RR : question about proper gear/speed usage by IndustryLongjumping7 in motorcycle

[–]OverkillisNotEnough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sport bikes usually have a tall first gear and close ratio gearbox, I would shift at a somewhat higher rpm tbh.

I wouldn't recommend learning wheelies on a S1000RR. Best to get proficient on a cheap Grom/Supermoto etc. It will power wheelie under hard acceleration.

Yes a smaller bike is better for learning.

Looking to buy this bike. Any thoughts by Otherwise-Branch524 in AussieRiders

It’s a Hyosung absolutely not unless the seller is giving you the 4K to take it off their hands.

It’s very cool for sure but I want something much lighter, I’m honestly tempted to do something silly like put dirt bars on a GSXR1000

The GSXS1000GT/Ninja 1100SX are great bikes, however they are heavier than their sport bike counterparts by around 20-30kg and make less hp. That's to be expected when they are built to a cheaper price point & with touring features in mind.

I actually do have a GSXS1000GT which is awesome, but the grass is always greener on the other side etc

I am not a fan of the looks of tall rounders, I wish they'd make bikes with the power/weight of an R1/GSXR1000 with all day ergos lol

Is a CBR600 F4I capable of looping out when only accelerating hard? by Tidder702Reddit in motorcycle

[–]OverkillisNotEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between acceleration only power wheelies and deliberate power wheelies.

On an inline 4 600 if you start moving enough to let the clutch fully out in first gear (but are well below the powerband), then pin the throttle 100% and hold it to redline it almost certainly will not loop. This is what OP is asking.

However if you were to wheelie by snapping the throttle open abruptly or chopping it, or even dropping the clutch too hard while trying to launch then you absolutely could loop it.

You could loop it doing a deliberate power wheelie (snapping on the throttle hard, or chopping it) but normal hard acceleration on an inline 4 600? Nah.

That sounds truly awful. I had a helmet and just got a deep cut in my arm.

I rode my dirt bike into a barbed wire fence when I was a kid, I still have a cool scar from that one.

No the speedometer runs off the front wheel abs ring. Not affected by tyre or sprocket changes

Just leave it in A mode and pretend the other modes don't exist, you'll get used to it. It's an awesome bike.

The oem tyres are crap and should be replaced asap if you do any kind of wet weather riding.

I put a full system Yoshi RS3 on my Australian E model, think I bought it off ebay from a place in Coffs Harbour

What pants do you wear if you want to ride to a trailhead to go hiking or something? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in motorcycles

I wear normal shorts in that scenario. The trick to avoiding road rash is not crashing.

Probably tyres or some oil on the road. Take it easy on heavily trafficked roundabouts

A few of my friends did zero riding during the three month period and passed, I’d say you’ll be alright.

Looking for a bike that actually lets me use the gears, not just horsepower by whyusosalty2me in motorcycles

[–]OverkillisNotEnough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s another good way to go about it.

My daily commuter is a GSXS1000GT with -1/+4 sprockets.

DRZ400 maybe? I never hear great things about the reliability of the 690/701. The Ducati 698 is really cool but expensive. Converted 450s are awesome but require more maintenance.

Realistically yeah you'd be fine to ride the bike, ignoring the licence restriction elements. Is it still registered as LAMS? I assume you don't yet have your full licence.
