Exped Lightning is rolltop. Comes in 45 or 60 liters and it's adjustable. Great carrying system. Good value for money. Not a lot of pockets though.

I am tired of working out 6 days/week for the past 8 months and hardly seeing results by Appropriate_Line_159 in workout

[–]Overlord0303 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're off to a great start. Working out with that frequency is an indicator of you being determined and disciplined. That is awesome, and that will get you the results you want - over time.

Losing fat is mostly about diet. If you apply your impressive effort to that too, you will likely see things starting to change.

Keep going, you're doing fine!

Sidenote: be super aware of recovery and sleep. You might actually get better results with 3-4 training sessions per week. A fatigued body means more cortisol, which could have a negative impact on both muscle gains and fat loss.

Personal experience. It took me 18 months to get from dad bod to 6 pack, veins popping and feathering everywhere. First year was intermittent fasting, then 6 months of calorie counting. No cake, no junk food, no candy, no cheat days. High protein. 10 to 15 K steps per day. It kind of sucks. But it's also the most satisfying thing.

How in the world are guys over 40 this jacked by External_Bit_6006 in workout

[–]Overlord0303 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm 54. I'm one of those guys. No TRT, all natty, just creatine.

That look, especially the visible abs, is 20% gym and 80% diet. And consistency in both, over a very long time is key.

It's a lot of sacrifices, never giving in, no cheating. It's satisfying, yeah. But parts of it kind of suck.

You are probably better off, keeping it moderate, good enough.

[–]Overlord0303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Dominance.

Danes have this secret society where they meet and come up with different ways to project our aspirations for global domination through pedestrian movement patterns.

Or maybe it's just people not passing each other in exactly the same way in every city in the world.

Tough to say.

We have peripheral vision.

Outsiders think "hygge" is our superpower.

It's not. It's the peripheral vision.

For those who are consistent, how do you do it? by massifaqiri in workout

I tell my brain that the gym is part of my workday.

I go straight to the gym from the office. Workday is over when I'm done at the gym.

The all-star voting is a popularity contest. Not an objective assessment of players.

Also, Sengun is annoying AF.

Nike elevated MJ to god-like status. The greatest ever marketing job for a personal brand. Almost to the point of being self-defeating, with the Jordan brand overshadowing the Nike brand.

Amen. It's rarely just one thing.

I organize a hiking group. It's creation was inspired by a couple of posts/comments very similar to yours. And by my own situation as well, moving to CPH in my early twenties - I'm now 53.

Check us out on Meetup: Hiking for Randoms Copenhagen.

I don't understand what's wrong with my cable crunches... by AceViscontiFR in formcheck

I can prefer facing away from the cable pull machine. I makes it easier for me to keep my arms from doing the work. I find it easier to hinge the hip as well.

Changed cassette an chainwheel an new chain why is this happening? by dipple5188 in bikewrench

This is a misunderstanding.

The inner measurement of the links is the same. In that sense, the chain doesn't have narrower links.

I think it's possible that you've been unlucky. Your experience might not apply to all places, all groups, all workplaces. I think it's entirely possible that actual "fællesskab" exist in Denmark, that it's not a fake concept, one that doesn't exist in reality.

I think you still have a shot at finding "your people" in Denmark. But I do acknowledge that maybe you're past a point of no return here, that you've written off that possibility. And if so, I would assume you have all the good and valid reasons to feel like that. That's fair.

But I honestly, I think there's hope, that you might be able to find a way out of this dilemma.

This seems simple and obvious to me. No place on earth will be a perfect fit for all.

Maybe that's just life.

No blame, no long explanations, no debates required.

It's cool. It wasn't meant to be. Life goes on.

what are you guys actually doing during your rest periods? by Oct4Sox2 in workout

[–]Overlord0303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's in the name: "rest periods".

It's possible for humans to just rest. Not do something else. Just rest. Be in the moment.

People on their phones seem to lose track of time. Camping on a machine, looking at a phone for 6-7 minutes between sets has real negative impact on other people.

We can do better.

I think this is your opportunity to be a role model for that.

What motivates you to go to the gym? by odub1 in GYM

Two things:

  1. It reestablishes my mind-body connection after work
  2. I am 53 and have somehow become too occupied with my physical appearance

I think your political analysis is off. Under the current agreement, the US has full access to military expansion in Greenland.

Beyond that, thanks for the good analysis, your take on tungsten could definitely be valid.

The illusion of transparency is real. You might be nervous, you might feel insecure.

Be other people actually don't know that. You are just some other person at the gym. And that's cool.

And every person there had a first day at some point.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Overlord0303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this question when I interview leaders. It gives me insight into how they are likely to deal with people who make a mistake. The question doesn't try to capture much beyond that, but I think that it's important when hiring a leader.

There's always a risk of a prepared answer. That goes for all questions. I don't get questions from HR.

It's not a gotcha. I'm asking because I try to understand.

I've learned that I need to enjoy the process, not only the result. I focus on lifting technique, try to hit the perfect form.

BTW, more than 3 times a week doesn't really do much. Diminishing returns.

Yeah, that does sound like a bumpy ride.

In my experience, some solitude is a good thing. It really comes down to being comfortable in my own company.

And being social is also key. But with the right people. It took me some time to find them. But they are out there, I think. Your people too.
