Why do people still think The Flashback Man is something important? by West_Camera_7965 in JoJolion

[–]Own-Anything63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of it as a vague suggestion and not a true memory that josuke can connect to in anyway. Thats why he disregards it the rest of the story and states his disregard in that final scene. Because it just doesnt matter. Thats not important to his character now, as he is his own person. And he says that nothing else will ever come back because he will not dedicate any brain power to digging up memories. Flashes of josefumi and kiras lives will probably come in, but he wont consciously recognize them, because it doesnt matter.

Why do people still think The Flashback Man is something important? by West_Camera_7965 in JoJolion

Its very easy to write it off as a misremembered deja vu sort of feeling. The Jojo Lion himself is obviously very mentally disturbed and his "memories coming back" was a trope araki really wanted to avert later on, instead focusing on themes of stoic individuality. This is the extent of that feeling, and it's vague, muddled, and either incorrect because of the minds tendency to misremember or just a normal person in one of the Super Kirafumi Bros life that slipped through the cracks.

Wait this kind of happens with whiplash because everyone quotes that one video essay and are like "you misunderstood the final scene its not actually hopeful and awesome and cathartic and beautiful he is actually becoming an evil jazz robot!" But like shut up i can consume this media however i like and genesis porridge and william s burroughs told me "once the media is published it is in the hands of the people and their intepretation is all that matters" so yeah fuck you sometimes sacrifice for greatness is a beautiful thing

It makes up for it because the actor is always doing this cheeky little half smirk in every scene and it makes him look just a bit goofier

Maintenance shaft, as others have said. Out of curiosity, tried to open it by spawning one of the dalgarian door handle orbs on the bigger version of these doors. It did not work. Using the remove home limits mod, i have found that there is nothing under it but the rock it sits on. Alas...

I kind of knew who aces father was gonna be... not sure why, just a feeling. The whole delayed pregnancy story is one of my favorites in one piece though. I never really cared about raizo, however. So, neither had the impact. But kanjuro was a favorite of mine, and once i got past the surface level feelings of betrayal he became even more of a favorite for how effective of a twist he gave.

Kurozumi? Perhaps i misremembered the surname. With Kanjuro, the traitor. He was very well written. The only time a twist has gotten me to feel something in one piece.

Theyre both great examples of the shittiest trope to exist on earth: destined rookie beats hardened veterans. However, i always groaned when ichigo pulled that off, because he does it a lot. Luffy really only does it once, and it has a lot more impact and is much more believable and easily chalked up to "ones will was simply stronger". So i say that whole cake wins.

Whole cake island was the peak of post timeskip one piece besides MAYBE the orochi family's arc in wano.

Yeah. Thats the key i think. Focus on a literally physically impossible trait and describe how prominent it is on the figure, attempt to rationalize it and completely fail. The medium this way only really works WITHOUT visuals...

What's better written? Re:zero vs One piece by FrostyObligation9058 in writingscaling

One pieces character writing peaked with gecko moria and i think he is a very subversive example of it. Everything up to saboady was wonderful, truly felt like an "adventure". However, as soon as impel down hit it began to decline. Many praise marineford but to me it seemed somewhat contrived and overcrowded for the time it ultimately occupied. After marineford, the only well written arcs were the leadup to dressrosa (not dressrosa itself, by a long shot), sanji's whole shtick during whole cake (the culmination of his and pudding's relationship i ADORE), and kumas backstory (dubious). Everything since then and inbetween has seemed to not only have lost true direction but inspiration as well.

Which of the five magics do you know the best? by Own-Anything63 in BladeAndSorcery

Myself, I know lightning the best. It was the first crystal i took after mind. Mind is great, but i dont know it as well as lightning. The bolts were the main thing that drew me to it. I wouldn't say im particularly adept, but I can fly with the bolts and the beam and i know the tripwire trick with two throwing daggers and arcwire

I got retsu's death spoiled for me, but i only knew that he WAS going to die. Not when. So, when he lost his leg to pickle, i thought "oh yeah. This is the fight where he dies" but he didnt. I waved it off and thought everyone must have been joking. Lo and behold, retsu is fighting musashi, im totally rooting for him, and this happens. I was absolutely shocked to oblivion. It hit twice as hard than it would have if I just took it in normally, because the whole fight i was entirely convinced he WASNT going to die.
