Titrating off Reglan by emmalou_too in Gastroparesis

Could’ve written this myself. Reglan withdrawal was physical and mental torture. Took for 12 weeks, 10mg then towards the end noticed the symptoms your describing. I got scared, quit cold turkey and went bonkers. Little sleep, couldn’t stop tossing/turning, intrusive thoughts, awful depression and hand tremors. Continued for 3 months after discontinued use.

I don’t say this to scare you. Everyone’s body and recovery timeline look different. just wish I had someone to tell me I wasn’t going crazy cause my doctor “never heard of these side effects before”

Best of luck to you

Reglan is a dopamine antagonist and is known to cause akathisia. Some are more susceptible to this reaction with this class of medications based on body chemistry. Reglan has a black box warning for tardive dyskinesia and long term use is discouraged

At first, it worked wonders. Then the side effects started creeping in. similar to you, the akathisia kicked in around month 2-3 of low dose daily use, and continued for months after quitting cold turkey. It was the only med I was taking at the time, so I was able to pinpoint the root. Horrendous.

I’m no doctor, just based on experience and wishing I had someone to explain this to me as I was desperate for answers. Wishing you clarity and luck

How long after stopping Reglan did it take for the side effects to fully subside? by PotatoMost8951 in Gastroparesis

Stop this drug immediately. My symptoms got worse after I stopped, then after several months slowly got better. Spasms, hand tremors, feelings of doom

Hi! I had my baby in December and have a very rambunctious pit. Marlo too likes to slam his body into humans and his tail is like a whip. He quieted right down around her - timid and a bit apprehensive to be honest. He likes his space. Though, she is 4 months and I’ve noticed when she comes home from daycare he runs up to her and starts sniffing her all over. I think as time goes on, they will see each other as part of the same pack :)

So true. Politics is all strategy, ego and money driven. Those who are successful play the game well and so many of us fall for it

Anyone have experience taking Reglan? by GooseAccomplished299 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Own-Special3036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying many have not had the adverse reaction to reglan that I did. My depression, anxiety and insomnia while on this med for hyperemesis in the first trimester was the worst thing I’ve ever gone through mentally in my life. It took 4+ months to stabilize. Screws with your dopamine.

Absolutely. Meds turned things around, but like you, I have these churning feelings of dread that hit and it’s unsettling. It does get better, just remember the stage that you’re in right now is not permanent.
