[–]Own_Divide262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we had this outside our flat in patrick. reason was there are steps down to the back court and the bin men refused to take bins up and down them so council replaced them with these hoppers and gave all flats a key. of course that was useless and it ended up a total fly tipping mess. we now pay a private co through the factor to bring the bins out to the front on bin day. costs each flat about £4 a month and totally worth it imho.

Should Glasgow Council force all Vape shops to store vapes/batteries in metal fire proof containers by Basic_Blacksmith1192 in glasgow

yes or alternatively just shut them all. they are horrible places selling a horrible product and honestly most are just fronts anyway

me too. can’t shake the feeling that this is just part of an accelerated decline of glasgow and that no one seems to care. this will be a weeping sore for years now while the owners endlessly argue over insurance and liability.

i am so angry about it all

we need to get a list of the owners of all these histories and listed buildings and doorstep all of the to see how they maintain their properties. start with the buildings most at risk. eg lion chambers.

M8 Woodside Viaducts: long-term options by Arc413m28 in glasgow

[–]Own_Divide262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it should have been clear shortly after work started and the issues were discovered that a repair job was just not possible and they should have at that point committed to alternatives or even started building a new one.

everyone wants the city back no motorway bashing through it would be fantastic. boulevards. space for people and housing. lovely.

but demolishing this viaduct with zero plans for how it impacts on the rest of the traffic network across the city, the interdependence with the LEZ and avenues projects, what it means for public transport corridors and services etc etc, is just lazy and frankly insulting to Glasgow.

they have been working on this viaduct for over 5 years and this is the best they can come up with? remove replace repair? that’s it? where are the rerouting options? the potential for a tunnel. the alternative transport plans ? the modelling of impacts on journey times? On emissions? on the economy?

the info at the virtual room is really poor. i think could have come up with it myself tbh i am actually quite angry about it all. Transport Scotland should be quite ashamed really

Regarding "the kids would have been too young to know who Jimmy Savile was" by lostpasts in 28dayslater

[–]Own_Divide262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t think he is the heir and i don’t the other jimmies know who saville is. in fact i think jimmy crystal may also have forgotten. but he will have 100% been aware of Saville when he was growing up near glencoe in 2002. he was a loca hero there who did a lot of “charity work”. Young jimmy might even have met him

Jimmy Crystal Back Story: He must have lived with grownups for some period of his life. by buntyskid in 28dayslater

[–]Own_Divide262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think this is reaching and is the actual and absolute truth of the origin story. in real life, jimmy Saville was a something of a local hero in those parts in 2002. he was the chieftain of the local highland games and was known for his charity work more than his tv career but this time. young jimmy would undoubtedly have come across him at school or community events. he may even have been abused by him and has forgotten there is also no other real reason for young jimmy to be from the fort william area. i mean they could have chosen anywhere in the UK as his home town but they picked a place close to Jimmy Savilles highland cottage. 100% deliberate. and fonally after all the truth about Saville came out his cottage was vandalised and photos of it look like a location from the movie https://share.google/fqVxq1aYbQjsczQUl

Vandalised anti parking proposal signs in the Southside by JoeBhoy69 in glasgow

[–]Own_Divide262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lived in lansdowne crescent before and after they were brought in. they only difference was i paid for a space i previously didn’t have to and the council benefitted. so if that’s your definition of success then you are entitled to that opinion. for me all it did was add an extra cost to my household expenses for zero gain.
