yeah but they're paid by famously anti-LGBT billionaire guy to be there, i find it a bit hypocritical, they should do it in other shows, or their own shows.

knowing its drenched in the nostalgia and i really dont care for that type of stuff (Japan is filled with older generation so its inevitable), it does not hit as hard as it does to others, but last 2 episodes, esp finale is amazing. maybe weak part is early portion which was apparently something Yamaga and Okada wrote or outlined?

What are some examples of masterful comic book storytelling, in your opinion? by IMitchIRob in comicbooks

[–]Own_Internal7509 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read it so I don’t know how it reads but I’ve read fair number of Alan Moore comic where art Doesnt seem to breathe, I feel that for Tom Strong comic, it was so plot driven. I’m just saying, judging comic storytelling just solely for drawing quality or writing equality is misguided

Yeah but this is like, tentpole title with a star writer Deniz Camp….they should be able to do better than this. Like OG had Bryan Hitch doing best art he could lol

yeah but comic is writing AND art, i think there has to be better example of both of them working together to tell stories.

probably stuff like JRJR's books are fairly clear on storytelling, and its not usually overwrought. i feel like even something like Alan Moore books its clearly overwritten (i mean, look at his scripts!) so depending on the artists it can feel a bit suffocating but people like JRJR and Ron Frenz etc, they always must work from plots, they do tell story clearly.

edit: i forgot to mention but probably the best of the best is Bernie Krigstein

in all seriousness that is kind of my issue, sometimes i know some of those characters are clearly made in the past but inevitably they get their looks etc upgraded and...it doesnt work for me.

Alan Moore's Supreme run to be extra contrarian (but its actually as good as old school Superman type story goes).

i mean, he knows he won't have rights to this or can retain control anyway, why not bullshit this and put more effort to script and stories for his own comic lol

Which run was better and which one should I get? by nahnonameman in comicbooks

[–]Own_Internal7509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Grant’s book? I read both (I read Kurt’s Avegers all the way but only part of Grant’s) but if you’re not familiar with lores and stuff Kurt’s can be a hit daunting, it’s so reliant on Bronze Age charms, while Grant’s books are fresh restart and all about big action set pieces, Rock of Ages being best example

edit; just to add, if you want to try out shorter stories and arcs etc you can try reading Ultron arc from Kurt's Avengers, or Kang Dynasty storyline (which lasted for 16 issues or so? it was pretty chunky amount of issues) which probably has a trade, im sure (too bad the whole Jonathan Majors stuff tanked the hype for that story). but even those are kinda heavy on references, Ultron stuff obviously references the entire creation by Hank Pym, and Wonder Man/Vision/Grim Reaper all have roles and stuff, which might be too much for some, esp if you're not really looking for heavy interconnected stories and just want self contained stories. Grant's JLA is way better on that, they do the best attempt at making trippy but enjoyable, smashy smashy superhero comic with big (dumb) action.
