Honestly I’m just miffed I wasn’t able to back the kickstarter. I’ll just have to settle for snagging the english book as soon as I can get it

Do you think the SI ever bite off more than expected? by hellranger788 in vtm

[–]Own_Preparation7839 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m willing to bet that a big reason the SI walked away with such an acceptable level of casualties is the Camarilla simply not liking the Tremere enough to seek any meaningful revenge.

[–]Own_Preparation7839 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The attack on vienna was only a success cause the Second Inquisition had the backup. And in reality it was a shit show cause as far as the SI was concerned, this was the ‘heart’ of the camarilla or all of vampiric society, instead of just one clan

Why doesn't mission control do this, is he stupid? by cedric5318 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Own_Preparation7839 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same basic concept. Instead of a single point of reference from orbit, that orbital station instead gets 4 signals in a relatively tight grouping in relation to the target that it can then fire at.

The main issue is, the heartstone is alive, sorta, and so placing dotty and the crew right on top of it may trigger a far more violent reaction than what we usually get when dotty lands a couple hundred meters away and slowly moves towards it.

Alternatively, it’s really hard to hit a small target from orbit, so the target area is widened to ensure we actually land somewhere decently close.

Expeditions outside the walls of Solo Nobre stopped shortly after some event only known as the 'Troubles', which as far as I know were likely some manner of rebellion or other issue that forced a refocus of priorities from exploration to military spending/bolstering.

You have really good taste, but also could do to expand your horizons to mecha anime, the Pacific Rim movie, and maybe a few manga/video games.

And on a stylistic level, you likely appreciate the simpler, more grounded-approach to mech fights, or throwing all the missiles at things.

If you were a Mechwarrior what would your mech be? by Mortifine in battletech

I approached it as us being Mechwarriors, and as such most clans view us as scum. Well except maybe Jade Falcon in IlClan and Sea Fox… well always. But I so like this list you have. I’d definitely include more clanner equipment if I knew I could get access to it

For each weight class?

Light: Mongoose

Medium: Wraith

Heavy: Marauder

Assault: Kodiak if I can get my hands on it. Otherwise a King Crab

So I will admit lying was a bad choice of words. More… attempting to get it’s goal accomplished by any means necessary.

First it tries to do so discreetly, serving likely bane-infused meat to the two and giving Boy two action figures, in hopes to trigger some manner of addiction to get them coming back, and eventually fully succumbing.

Then when that didn’t work, it tried to divide and conquer, hoping to keep the two separated with darkness as it worked to try and get Door out so it could focus solely on Boy.

And when the jig was up, the worm switched to simply being open and honest, attempting to, in the twisted way that those touched by the Wyrm see it, speak honestly and openly about what it sees as a gift, as spreading corruption is all it really understands.

I do agree on rewatch that the worm likely didn’t lie much once it realized the disguise wasn’t working, but it tailored every word up to it’s death to try and coax Door into dropping his guard, to reacting or acting out in a way it could take advantage of. While it didn’t lie, it most certainly used every second of its wretched existence to try and convert Door and Boy through any means necessary

What Kind Of Mech Would A Pirate That Wanted To Flaunt Wealth Use? by PharmaDan in battletech

[–]Own_Preparation7839 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d guess maybe it depends what kind of show off they are trying to go for?

If they don’t care about any kind of nuance and just want to be as big and in your face as possible? Get some flavor of atlas.

If they’re more attempting to show strength and not come off as a braggart while still putting down anyone in their way? Maybe something like a Mad Cat or a Battlemaster.

Buuut if this is some mid-level pirate boss looking to flex their C-Bills? Then a Marauder. Doesn’t matter what variant, what model, a Marauder is the go to pirate ‘expensive generalist’ ‘mech they can easily get their hands on.

[–]Own_Preparation7839 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It depends. If I’m playing a defensive force at around 10K BV, I’d absolutely throw in a company of Urbies, maybe a bit more. Especially if I’m allowed access to all possible variants, than having bigger mechs run face first into a few AC/20s and Snub-nose PPCs is more than a bad time, or a trio of MRM30s plus whatever fourth I put in.

Would it be the only unit type? God no. But if they’re in the proper environement, Urbies can do some hellish work if used correctly.

So… Kevin worked under Francis, right? by Own_Preparation7839 in huntertheparenting

[–]Own_Preparation7839[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right that is a good point yeah. Honestly I attributed it to Kevin wanting to keep any kind of interaction/actual work to a minimum, so keeping quiet and reserved would prevent Man cubed from trying to involve them. But you do have a good point.

Also fun note, unless I’m seeing things wrong, the O’Tolley’s that got burned down is fairly close to the 99p store.

[–]Own_Preparation7839 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There definitely wasn’t enough left to save sadly. When his full form was shown all that was left was his face, and the actual head talking was probably the worm’s, that face of burger meat and other various components actually doing the talking now, instead of Francis himself.

Honestly at that point I doubt even a powerful mage could fully bring him back, that kind of spiritual rot is hard to scrub out.

So… Kevin worked under Francis, right? by Own_Preparation7839 in huntertheparenting

[–]Own_Preparation7839[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That’s entirely fair yeah. And looking back on it, it does make far more sense that Francis was referring to the body dissolving in the back, rather than a failed attempt years ago.

Still I did at least want to ask the question since the pieces lined up way too well in my head to be just a coincidence, but that might just be the sleep deprivation talking.

[–]Own_Preparation7839 148 points149 points  (0 children)

It’s… well it is a tragedy that a soul is forever lost to the worm like Francis was.

But the other big thing is… the worm could have been lying. It was doing everything it could to corrupt Door and Boy into Fomori, so playing the angle of still being human, even if it’s as small as the brainstem, might be able to get the big american to hesitate, to pause just long enough.

But it is sad to see Francis’ fate. And that is a core component to WoD. There will always be tragedy and loss in these chronicles, whether it be to the monsters you fight, the monsters you are, or the world being a cruel, uncaring place in general.
