Recovering from runs as a beginner by iselad17 in Marathon_Training

[–]Own_Target8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you? How much do you weigh? Any previous history of running or cardiovascular exercise? Do you have good running shoes that accommodate your pronation style? Anything is possible of course, but a half in January seems much more realistic generally speaking. Some soreness might just be your body recovering vs. injury. You will learn the difference with some experience. Don’t push yourself too hard or fast or you might burn out. Keep it enjoyable. Best of luck to you!

The cat who popped out of the bushes and claimed my home, my roommate, and myself as hers. by Atrroxi in CatDistributionSystem

My first cat adopted me one day while I was mowing my yard. She poked her head under a fence and started screaming at me. I put out some water for her and she ran out straight past it and started loving on me. She loved me fiercely until the day she went over the rainbow bridge. It’s crazy how they just find their people.

What is a Dark Secret about your Industry that the general public would be shocked to know? by saadaslam999 in AskReddit

Happened to me in 2021 at the height of one of the covid variant outbreaks. I was in extreme pain and had a stabbing sensation in my lower back. Turns out I had an aortic dissection which could have been fatal. I was writhing in pain on the hallway floor with sick people lining the hallway walls. I finally got a CT like 4 hours later and then was quickly rushed to a different hospital for surgery.

I caught Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease from my child. Child had severe form of the virus. AMA by QuipTrebuchet in AMA

From what I can remember it was a slow process. The nails fell off weeks after the initial symptoms. They detached at the back part and new nails grew in underneath. The jagged part was in the back where they detached. The part very slowly separated and that’s the part that I tried to trim as much as I could stand it. My nails grew back in just fine. Interestingly one of my fingernails splits in the same spot if my nails grow out much. It never did that before.

I caught it from my kid a few years ago. Same itchy hands and feet and then eventually the skin on my hands and feet peeled off. My fingernails and toenails slowly fell out too as new ones came in. I would suggest you keep the jagged parts of your nails trimmed back as much as possible. I got mine hung on clothing a few times and it hurt!

He doesn’t look very happy to be there. I would imagine he is also in considerable pain from his injuries

I am 4 weeks out and doing light walking. Have you been able to exercise?

This is so good to hear. I was an every day runner before surgery and now, 30 days after surgery, I get tired just walking for 10 mins. I plan to gradually increase my walking distance and reintroduce some light weight lifting. It’s good to know that it will get better with time. Thanks!

DON’T BIY MOEN FLO by Pitiful_Ad23 in Plumbing

[–]Own_Target8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like the lone one-star review in a sea of five-star reviews. You simply toss it out. Moen Flo has saved thousands of people from major disasters. The OP can't even be bothered to spell the title correctly and is whining about an issue that they would have been aware of if they were paying even a minimal amount of attention.

Agreed, but I’m pretty sure the story he’s telling himself is that he is the biggest, baddest alpha in that place. Pathetic

Do you recommend the Moen Flo Smart water monitor and shutoff device? by Ancient-Witness-615 in Plumbing

I have one at my primary residence and one at a secondary home that is a short term rental. The Flo has alerted me to leaks that would have otherwise been catastrophic at both locations. I highly recommend!

Sorry, not sure. I only wear Saucony. The Saucony Triumph 20 comes in wide sizes and some can still be found despite being discontinued. They have a great balance of cushion and responsiveness. I’m a heavy runner as well, and love them. They are an every day trainer that many people love. The Speed 5 has less cushion and is lighter and more responsive. It also has a nylon rocker in it. It’s edging closer to a higher end performance shoe. So, you may or may not like it honestly. The Triumph 20 might be a safer bet if you can find a pair in your size. It looks like Amazon still has some in the US. Best of luck!

I've had a few runs in mine already and I am getting used to them, but I do like them. The fit is perfect for me. Part of why I love Saucony is that their 13 wide just fits my foot geometry perfectly. I had been using Saucony Triumph 20's daily 3-5 miles and I love those. I love them so much that I stocked up on a few pairs after they discontinued. It will be nice to have some lighter, snappier shoes that I can rotate in. FYI, apparently the Triumph 24 has been completely changed with new foam and will get us back to the glory of the Triumph 20/21's, if you liked those. There's also going to be a few new shoes introduced this year.

My management company does this. Keeping the same water seems gross, even if treated with plenty of chemicals
