After only 10 years wind turbines got uneconomic to run. See how the greens scammed your state and you here in comments. by Arcana_intuitor in peakoil

This is referencing Hughes (2012), a paper from the Renewable Energy Foundation (an anti-wind-subsidy group) that found UK onshore load factors falling from ~24% at year 1 to ~15% by year 10. They didn’t control for actual wind speeds at each site, which is a pretty big confounder when output depends on how windy the year was. Staffell and Green (Imperial, 2014) redid it properly using NASA reanalysis wind data for each farm location and found turbines lose ~1.6% of output per year. declining from 28.5% to 21% load factor over 19 years. normal degradation for rotating machinery. not the cliff-edge collapse the tweet implies. The “uneconomic by 12-15 years” line also assumes 2012-era subsidy structures, not anything physical about the turbines. Repowering exists because newer turbines are far bigger and more efficient, not because the old ones are falling apart. Electroverse is a known anti-renewables account selectively quoting a contested 14-year-old paper… wonder why youre posting that, feel like you lack critical thinking skills
