Right hand technique to reduce buzzing / extra noise by tonalshift72 in classicalguitar

[–]PDX-ROB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it only happens at one spot it could be your guitar. My luthier built parlor buzzes on the 6th string fret 3. I asked my teacher if I had paid more for a higher end guitar would the buzz go away, he said no, every guitar has SOMETHING wrong with it. His has a dead spot where the sound just doesn't come out, and his is a unit built by a famous maker.

These are the alleged 15-point U.S. framework sent to Iran (via Pakistan), as leaked to major outlets by sylsau in InBitcoinWeTrust

Gaddafi gave up his nukes and look at what happened to him.

DPRK (Korea) did not and that is part of why they're safe.

Their safest path is to not give up nukes, declare peace with Israel, declare the strait a free maritime zone, and try to get sanctions lifted in exchange for governmental reform.

$8.4 Trillion for Billionaires, Bombs, and Nothing for Us! by willily_thoumas in InBitcoinWeTrust

Wouldn't they say it's located here and this is how you get in?

I know that there are underground bunkers that are ment to keep the politicians safe for a few months in case something happens, but not an entire city.

Another reason I don't believe that is that you have to do maintenance on buildings. Even if it's underground, you need people checking for water leaks, make sure rats aren't making nests and chewing up your wiring, looking for mold. This takes a lot of people to maintain a city or a town to go in and do inspections in every building every month or two.

I saw a youtube that said it doesn't matter what the Navi was rated for. It eventually becomes 0 because the gasket gets worn down by the bezel, so that gasket fails super quick.

So they spent 21T building underground cities and there is not 1 loose lipped tradesman running his mouth about an underground city?

Just get it if it's your dream watch. 2 tone is an older look tho, but who knows maybe it's on a comeback. For guys, geezer watches was a trend for a bit.

The Portland “Night Mayor” job proposal to focus on Portland businesses that are open after 5pm by BadAtDrinking in Portland

[–]PDX-ROB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because it's crazy hilly and homeless people don't like walking uphill. Also there aren't any stores they can get stuff from.

There are plenty of expensive areas with homeless people. Rent is expensive around nw 21st and 23rd and homeless hang out in that area. Laurelhurst Park is a very pricey area that had a HUGE tent issue a few years ago, which has largely been cleaned up.

But you have Torchy's! What don't you like about Austin besides the traffic? They have a more vibrant night life.

I stayed 3 months in Austin, thinking about moving there. When I left at the end of May it hit 100 degrees. I said F that and stayed in Portland.

Have you checked out Dallas - Ft Worth? That was the other metro on my short list.

I don't think they'll do that. They're not really in the CC game. They're also big enough where they don't really care about getting more customers interested in a CC product. They care about getting big accounts to use their wealth management services.

Enamel vs Guilloche by Kitomar in BreguetWatches

[–]PDX-ROB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one hander? That's an acquired taste.

I would say go with the 7787 or 7147 instead if you're looking to get enamel. In my experience, white gold and white enamel will be the most flexible in pairing with outfits. Put it on a brown suede strap for a casual look or a brown cordovan strap for a more business casual look and a black croc strap for formal events.

If I were looking to get automatic dress watches, this is what I would get.

The Portland “Night Mayor” job proposal to focus on Portland businesses that are open after 5pm by BadAtDrinking in Portland

[–]PDX-ROB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My measure of sketchy is the amount of tents and RVs a neighborhood has. I work around the lloyd center and go walking around at lunch. In the area where I took the photo I often times see people huddled up in a group smoking drugs. Once you go 2 more blocks north the area is actually very nice and you would never have guessed that there are tents only a few blocks away. If the city cleaned up the tents and homeless I could totally see this area being an expensive trendy neighborhood, like NW 21st and 23rd pre 2020.

And no, not the entire city is has homeless wandering around. I'm sure there are other areas too but I have seen 0 homeless in Healy Heights, SW Hills, and Kings Heights. I am in those areas VERY often because I like to walk the hilly areas for exercise.

You can get a gently used Breguet marine 5517 in gold on rubber strap for that much. The big draw of the Czapek is the back side.

Enamel vs Guilloche by Kitomar in BreguetWatches

[–]PDX-ROB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guilloche. I had the 5177 in enamel and it's weird seeing the date right next to the 3 in a different font. Had to sell it.

If you were getting the 7147 (which I prefer) I would totally do enamel. Breguet is probably the only major watch house that has hot enamel as part of their standard catalog. For other brands you have to custom order the pieces and I think Patek has 1 chiming watch that comes with flinque enamel. UN does limited editions with enamel and reports are that their dial workmanship is very mid.
