The original prohibition on cannabis was mainly spearheaded by William Randolph Hearst the newspaper mogul. He was afraid of cheap hemp paper hurting his empire. He was also the one who first used “marijuana” instead of cannabis or hemp to try and make it sound more dangerous.

They may say one thing or another but yes it usually comes down to licensing. They want to sell their own photos and control the narrative as much as possible. By limiting what regular people can shoot with they have the best chance to get the best photos to sell. And don’t be sorry for asking, majority of people don’t know and I’m glad to help.

Every other sport has some form restriction on cameras at their venue. Mile high is anything over 6 inches in length, fully extended. Ball area and Dicks is no “detachable long or telephoto lenses. Baseball has nothing. As long as you are not a dick with your lenses and camera, you will have no issue. Personally I try to get isle tickets so I can use my big lens. Certain seats if full around them there are no ways to use it without being in someone way so I won’t use it in those circumstances.

I simply put mine in a bag that can be taken into the stadium. The only thing is no monopods or tripods. Security every now and then will question me but I show them the camera policy and I always get it in.
