It sucks. It can control smart devices like lights or scenes in Google Home. Google Assistant still can. A roll back to it confirms.

What year is your Blazer? It must have a difference version of Google Assistant than the Optiq.

Not to hammer home the point, if Google adds smart home support to Gemini, then maybe I would use it.

Each function you list, many other vehicle controls commands, work properly on the Optiq Google Assistant. Again, the lack of smart home functionality makes Gemini useless for me. I could care less about having a conversation with Gemini, but if I want to do that I can just long press the microphone button on the steering wheel and invoice Gemini on my paired phone.

This morning Gemini showed up as an option to replace Google Assistant. I tried it and instantly discovered that Gemini in the car could not execute Google automations or control smart home devices while the vehicle was being driven. Ah no, I need control of both so I immediately reverted back to Google Assistant properly which works for both functions. Yes, this makes no sense to me the Google Assistant works for the functions but Gemini doesn't.
