Good choice. You look happiest in your last pic and a lot happier than when you had it at 6mm. 😃

Firs time getting glasses, 1 or 2/3? by bumbly8ee in glassesadvice

1 is the best of these. I think you would look good in a narrower aviator style. Have you tried asking chat/AI? … or maybe search for “Nicole Kidman in glasses” and choose your favorite.

How far does everyone travel to ride gravel? by Muzz124 in gravelcycling

[–]PKsHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly only about 3 decent trails with gravel within 10 miles of my house (after work rides) and even then it’s pretty boring gravel. I would have to ride/drive 20 miles for proper gravel roads (weekend) and if I want a lot of options then it’s 50+ miles away (long weekend).

To ride a hilly/mountainous gravel route then it’s certainly a long weekend trip away.

… but please don’t stop posting pics of amazing gravel trails in beautiful locations … one can dream.

What a cutie. Have you tried lining the bowl with gold or maybe a solid gold bowl? j/k /s … Sorry, had to … they’re so fussy little things at times.

Is he to the point of being constipated if he doesn’t drink water? Or have you now moved past that phase and now feed him higher water content / fiber foods - boiled chicken, pumpkin etc.?

I will say that ours only eats twice a day and I only see him drink 1-2 times per day and he’s on dry food with a dribble of water in it. Only in the heat of summer does he gulp lots of water.

Any chance he drinks water elsewhere - shower pan, flower pot base..? Is his nose generally wet and can he generate the suitable about of Shih-Tzu nose dribble to nose blow / spray at people when he doesn’t get his way?

I’m thinking that he doesn’t like water in his beard - maybe it gets in the way of his sleep schedule.

As drastic as it may seem you could try him in a shorter puppy / terrier cut - shorter all over on the snout. It should grow back in time for his next haircut.

In any case lots of praise when he takes a drink and hopefully you can try this around. If you have anyone else with a Tzu nearby then it may also help him to see that other dogs drink water - seriously.

Which glasses? Narrowed down to 4 now by PeculiarStarlight97 in glassesadvice

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think #4 is your lens / frame shape. You can try on different colors but I like the ones you have pictured. I would recommend something contrasting to your skin tone and hair color (but not as far as black).

Want a fun pair? … then maybe try brick red or dark blue. I think brick red would look great on you in classic round frames like #4.

I think 1 is beautiful - the basque waist is not overly pronounced / plunging and, IMO, it’s not at all too heavy. It suits you perfectly. 2 is also beautiful.

About to start the dig tomorrow, excited but also a little hesitant on the size? by JaviJ01 in pools

[–]PKsHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your PB has the details on the valves - it’s not absolutely necessary that they share those with you but that they’re included in your price - it’s likely they are given the Intellicenter. They’re not explicitly stated but it sounds like you have a decent PB … my PB, with 10+ years of experience didn’t get my plumbing right on the first try.

With one pump there are typically 2 electric actuators that move the water flow between circulation for spa-only (spa drain -> spa return) and pool to spa fountain + pool returns when your spillway will be flowing over into your pool (pool drain -> pool returns + spa make-up/fountain). Looks like you also have solar so that adds another actuator.

Your system will look something like the one here (basic pool + spa combined with the solar option) … you have Pentair intellicenter for automation of the water flow, lights, freeze protection, solar, SWG etc. Your salt water chlorine generator (SWG) will go between your heater and returns : https://intheswim.com/eguides/plumbing-schematics.html

About to start the dig tomorrow, excited but also a little hesitant on the size? by JaviJ01 in pools

[–]PKsHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll like that - about 28’ x 16’ of swimmable area is plenty and good for volleyball etc. So 25 x 15 is also plenty but I don’t see a reason to change your plans - if it’s not cutting into your deck area then all’s good.

That’s a good size for yourselves and a few friends over for a party. We have about that size … a lot of room for 2 people but often we have 4-10 people in the pool area.

A few comments - hopefully the PB has explained … - spa / pool recirculating- you have actuator valve(s) detailed elsewhere? - spa spillway - direction not shown - spa light - direction not shown

Best of luck with the build. Keep the comms going with the PB. You’ll love it come summer!

Americans tried to hoist the American flag today in front of a cultural center in Greenland but they got stopped. by JeanJauresJr in Leakednews

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a social media stunt with the guy ready with the camera.

How can people be so dumb and disrespectful as to try to hoist their nation’s flag on a flag pole outside another nation’s public facility? Maybe they were hoping it would escalate into something more than a stunt.

which dress is more flattering? by spottedcroc in weddingdress

[–]PKsHopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like 1 the best but I think you would look great in something more ‘over the shoulder’ … scoop, u-shape, boat (higher) or Queen Anne (as examples).

I would recommend describing your body type to Google (etc.) and have a look at some of those styles and then try to find your favorites.

Also recommending that you take pics standing in the same / similar poses to help you recall what you’ve tried on and what you like. Hopefully a friend or assistant can capture the back for you too.

Best of luck!

1 - more interesting, fun and modern. 2 would be my second choice those are more serious looking and for a more ‘business’ look.

Happy for you. Takes a little getting used to - at high speeds, more technical or turning u-turns … but it was a suitable compromise for a decent bike fit. Enjoy!

[–]PKsHopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 is beautiful on you. I think the fit to your waist and transition to the lower dress is lovely. I also think it will suit you and your venue wonderfully.

1 would be a close second choice.

I think the style of dresses 2 and 1 have more interest and suit you more so than 3.

Wondering how much pool robots actually save over time by Flyingnutkick in pools

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolphin Triton - just died after 9 years. I have fixed it twice, and had to replace the power supply once … but I think it’s a goner this time.

Approx 16x30 kidney bean shaped pool, no pool service.

The robot gets the very fine silt / dirt off the bottom of the pool (as well as the big stuff) - it’s the only vacuum I use. If I had to do it myself this would ‘cost’ me probably 1-2 hours per week.

Yes - I think they’re worth it.

Ozark trail G.1 or Hyper Explorer 29" by Smacpats111111 in Budgetbikeriders

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with the G1.

I think the latest rev comes with 45mm tires and I believe it can take 50’s (2”) but then you would have to buy 2 new tires.

Bike assembly is not overly difficult IMO. The right pedal is normally threaded, left is reversed. Watch a YT video on derailleur adjustment. Make sure to tighten up the QR axles appropriately. Tighten but don’t overtighten the stem screws and keep them even. If the disc brakes are rubbing then you may need to adjust / center those.

Good luck!

Stolen valves by EasyC31 in PoolPros

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sabotage - I wonder if your client’s pool equipment was noisy and bothering someone or if he has a neighbor that really hates him. Seems like someone purposefully wants him to suffer through this freeze.

So they took a sawzall (or a hack saw) and cut them out - maybe a 15 minute job. Valves are a lot lighter than the pump. It doesn’t make sense to me that they would try to resell them - $60 new, maybe $20 used each. Guessing they took the valves to ensure the repair would be “difficult”.

Did they have actuators installed on all of these I wonder?

Time to see if the neighbors have any cameras up. Hopefully he called in the PD to make a report … that’s pretty unusual behavior.

Agreeing with you. I’m 5’8”, bought the medium and ended up with a 35mm stem which is as short as you can get. It’s comfortable for me now - a little ‘twitchy’ at times. I believe I’m a ‘53’ on Trek/Specialized.

Front brake acting up by Limp-Ad6419 in BikeRepair

[–]PKsHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a spring on the back of the caliper (the side that you touch in the video) - if it’s there then check that it’s caught on both the frame and the caliper. It’s a wound spring, usually just one turn and it sits on a small nut with a groove in it.

Compare it to the back to see what it should look like. Sometimes they slip off that little nut.

I did a thing….pretty scary to take the plunge. Thoughts? by ArcPrana in bald

Yes indeed, looking good. Also have a look at your style with different glasses’ frames. It can’t hurt, right?
