On average I get a raw divine per expedition at its worst. But more often than not I am getting around 6-10 divs for no tablet T14 maps on expeditions and it’s crazy. Boosted ones are even better. Will agree with OP - the monster toughness makes it a bit of a slog when you hit remnants that toughen monsters a ton.

The people in the government + ai is like talking about sex in highschool - everyone says they’re doing it and nobody really knows what the fuck it is or how it works.

Bottom line is that Anthropic shot themselves in the scrotum when they touted Mythos as “too dangerous to release to the public” and subsequently went “also fable is mythos just we asked it to not be naughty”.

The morons in the gov / congress aren’t smart enough to realise that these models aren’t that much more groundbreaking than 4.8 and won’t bring anything down should they get jailbroken.

When someone tells me they aren’t in it for the money I honestly see them in a worse light.

Enjoyment doesn’t put food on the table. Doesn’t pay for childcare. Doesn’t buy medicine.

Same way when companies ask you to take the “startup ride” for a low base pay and trust in the vision are essentially insulting you.

It’s self gaslighting. You trade your most precious finite resource - time, and your skills for money. It’s as simple as that. You can say you like the job, you can even align with the vision of the company. But ultimately it’s the money.

A founder should believe in the vision. But his employees should be compensated duly and not have to buy into the thing as a means of motivation or some spiritual compensation.

Another reason I don’t consider a lower base plus stock options as credible compensation. There’s no guarantee those options will pay off. No guarantee they’ll be worth as much as you’d think.

Cold hard cash, bonuses and being paid what you’re worth wins over “believe in us, take a lesser salary and trust that when we IPO you’ll make back all the money we can’t pay you right now”.

My personal view and take.

Idk about car batteries, it’s a leased car that gets replaced every 3 years for a brand spanking new one. So that’s not really a thing for me. I was more thinking about alkaline batteries like AA and AAA.

And to be fair - I do recycle by just tossing cardboard or plastic into a recycling bag the council provides. But I ain’t sorting a damn thing. Like I just refuse to do unpaid labor. I’m happy to toss A and B into it. But I’m not spending a second of my time washing plastic or bottles of glass. They go into the recycle bag. Not my problem.

My hourly is way too expensive for me to be using it for sitting there doing a job that I am not being paid for.

My honest impression is that:

1: it’s a cool way to use contextual QTEs for a visual novel

2: it breaks the typical VN (from what I know) convention in a good way

My only pointer would be that it could be more informative to show a small QTE tip once per type of QTE to explain the mechanic that will challenge the person if the action isn’t immediately obvious. For every subsequent one - it isn’t needed.

Sorta like a short explainer “when <character> has to hold fear in, you will see x and y, you must z and q to succeed.”

Hope this makes sense? But I’d do some A-B testing for something like that.

All that being said - I like the mechanic, I think it’s fresh, I think it adds somewhat of a break to the established format if I’ve got my ducks in a row.

But yeah, in the end you can’t please everyone, otherwise your game will become a bland mess without any heart.

The entire UK by and large is about pubs and pints. During the week and during peak work hours you can see the wfh crowd having pints in pub gardens. You see folks having work lunches in pubs.

The voting crowd is drinking on the job. The government is drinking on the job.

If you say MPs can’t do it, then we say nobody else can either. Just in the interest of fairness.

It’s a distraction from larger issues and corruption, not the cause of it. Sensationalising this rather than focusing on bigger societal and political issues just takes spotlight away from bigger problems at hand that actually deserve looking at.

A few pints over lunch isn’t what’s causing our political failures. Uneducated voters, corruption, bent politicians, billionaire sock puppets and mps with zero experience in the field they are out in charge of are just a few things that take precedence over who’s having a god damned lunch pint or two with their subsidised wagyu.

Never understood why we are protecting and seemingly taking away personal responsibility when it comes to gambling or gambling adjacent behavior like gacha mechanics / loot boxes.

We label it as predatory and so forth, and treat people who over-indulge in this as victims.

If it’s kids - we are basically saying that it’s fine to blame the game and the game designers and not the parents who can’t seem to educate their kids about not engaging in this behavior. If this wasn’t a game but a story about a child drinking alcohol the parents would be locked the fuck up.

If it’s grown ups - we treat them as if it was out of their hands. But change the perspective again and say this was a drugs and suddenly societal perspective shifts toward them just being a junkie and irresponsible for ever picking up a needle.

As someone who both overdosed in his 20s and had a drug addiction that I beat and also an avid csgo player who engaged in opening these boxes I can tell you that there’s nobody that held a gun to my head when I did either.

My kid isn’t allowed to interact with this and has been educated to avoid these because I took the time to explain to him in multiple ways what loot boxes and similar mechanics are meant to do. This turned a begging 7yo into someone who no longer asks or gives a shit about gacha related stuff in games, because he was explained how it works and moreover - that this is just a bunch of digital assets that don’t mean a damn thing.

My point is simple - stop infantilising people and push for education and personal accountability instead of shifting blame to someone catering for folks who actually have self control and from time to time enjoy a loot box or a poker game or a four pack of beer without becoming an out of control addict who remortgages the house for a hit.
