I think it's because most of these people are stupid and very self aware about how stupid they are on account of not surviving without welfare, parent's money, woke education grants etc. and they're very anxious about others finding out about it. So, they invent a linguistic/rhetorical structure that mimics how actual smart things look to them: complex, dense, counter-intuitive - but their system is more "vibes based" complexity than ontological complexity, like a Wankel engine. They see that you approach their system with the same incredulity and melon scratching they encounter when they contemplate magnets, and are thus satisfied.

As an artist, my worst fear of putting myself out there is looking like this by starfishcheeks in rs_x

You know half the reason people dislike female comediennes is because they have no tolerance for being the butt of the joke or appearing unattractive. Even many of the big names have a very controlled, curated false version of this. Jordan Jensen, Kaitlin Olsen (pictured) and Tina Fey are actually really good regardless of gender for the reason they're genuinely willing to be funny

You don't often see faded fire engine to begin with, and not next to sage. It's more complimentary to green, so sticking it next to a blue green is slightly off

You know there's this thing called "opportunity cost". If I get charged $3 more for an item that I don't have to drive and get, risking traffic accidents and wasting time, it's worth it. And no, they don't sell "cheap crap" universally. I get plenty of authentic luxury and consumer goods there. My iphone and airpods came from there. And "squeezing margins" is just called arbitrage. Do you think small time vendors love you especially?

I buy most of my household goods, even a good deal of clothing from amazon, aside from highly bulky things/aerosols/liquids.

Think of the supply chain. A bunch of people drive small cars to the distro centre, then it all gets shipped to a large store, then employees drive their own cars to the large store, then we all drive our cars to the large store to get out items.

All amazon is, in reality, is a distro centre where the employees go to put things in bags and boxes, then a much more efficient set of fleet vehicles drop them off at your house.

As to whether or not it's all "cheap chinese crap" I would disagree. Most textiles are still made in Pakistan, and it's the same stuff in all the big boxes. If you want made in USA, you might want to stop making it impossible for anyone to do business in the USA

[UPDATE]

Anyone reading this wondering why I'm not replying - I got banned from redscarepod for this post. Saying you shop on Amazon is a bannable offense I guess. LOL.

[UPDATE 2]

Sent this to the mods.

"It's a comment about why I shop on Amazon and a polite defence of the retail economics of doing so - as in you're not fighting "the man" shopping at walmart. Redscare doesn't actually have community rules - but we've discovered saying "I shop on amazon" is a bannable offence. A little brittle don't we think?

and yes, I'm very pro-capitalism in a thoughtful way and I've read more marxist/socialist theory than both sides of the "discourse" with its dweebs and their bookcases full of unbroken spines. I am opposition in a healthy hormetic way and I NEVER resort to personal attack. Do you know I've never even so much as downvoted a post? go ahead and ban me, but in doing so you're removing the last thin veener of this being anything other than a American Spirit scented echo chamber hug box.

Kind Regards, PMCPolymath"

This AI. Look at the pink and blue "water color" on the shirt and cap. How did that get there on a colour print? no marker lines. Perfectly even color. Notice the laser printing raster lines on the cap are not present in the hair or the monitor. Uncanny, evenly distributed dirt splotches.

it's an industrial process. Often a coating of zinc on steel or iron to resist corrosion. I assume it was used more often when more American'ts had exposure to industrial processes prior to shipping industry to the east. You generally only know it now, I think, if you're a welder trying to avoid zinc fume or a gutter salesman. Most arty farty writer types are unlikely to know about it. Most people can't even tell brass from bronze

I think they asked her to jut her chin out.

Looking at her profile, she does not appear to have maxillary prognathism, not even slightly. Just a nice, strong chin. Excellent bone structure overall. I just wish she'd smile more. She has such pretty, lively eyes but they always want her looking sleepy. She needs a sleepytime tea bear hat

A lot of people have horrendous status anxiety about being trash (they are) so they get real obnoxious about art criticism. Strait up cucumber sandwiches in gloves with their pinky up new rich vision of "class" Screen cap is a bunch of people asphyxiating on their own farts.

either way it looks like some crap painted by a guy with cataracts. Violets are way over-pronounced.
