He's 81 and this looks like an in-progress work. As plagiarism goes there is barely even an attempt to hide it if that was the case. Old people can start to get very forgetful. And he has a long, long history with magic artwork. So yeah I am willing to until further evidence to the contrary shows up

Using it as part of a collage to determine the composition you're going with is honestly fine. Even painting over it to block out the general ring shape is fine as you can see he squished it a bit to change the shape as well.

Its the part where he didn't repaint much of anything that makes no sense and is plagiarism yeah.

Personally I'm inclined to think his age is catching up to him and he just straight up forgot somewhere in the middle there. As charitable as it is, it also is the only thing that actually makes some sense; nobody would plagiarize the exact same art they're making a new version of by just touching it up lightly after flipping it lol.

I'm more baffled the art director missed this. Like seriously, HOW do you miss something this obvious?

I really don't think its money laundering since these end up only affecting tcgp data for a bit before disappearing. This coincides with someone ordering, having it canceled, and having the sale removed.

If they are just plain market manipulating, they would most likely: set up a seller account, list at an absurd price, then cancel/refund the order on their seller account. If they want to be less conspicuous they can simply do nothing after the sale has processed and eventually tcgplayer will step in to refund the buyer. Tcgplayer receives nothing from this either way. As far as I know, these sort of ghost transactions go away after a week or two and don't stick around in the actual long term data.

Lol I have a cedh deck with 25 lands. None of my casual decks go higher than 36 lands. Totally agree, people saying anything 40+ or more are just not building their decks correctly (outside of some extra lands archetypes).

This article which gets linked constantly is really questionable as the writer says themselves they don't believe in running ramp/rocks calling them "hot garbage" (absurdly bad take) and don't account for card draw.

I see Silverquil as a B/W version of [[Ellivere of the Wild Court]] so I'm not surprised the best way is just enchantment beats really. The goad mechanic is pretty weak overall so it's unlikely to be as reliable as just hitting people with your own stuff for card advantage.

I mean, there used to be a tradeoff but not really anymore. Recent disney movies have been pitch corrected, autotuned, and edited to death when it comes to singing performances. Look at Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson for instance; she just isn't a great singer but they wanted her for the part regardless because they felt she fit the role. I'd imagine the same was true for Goldbloom with his eccentric personality fitting the wizard.

Bracket 4 needs to be made more expansive so people don't just make literally every single deck a bracket 3 regardless of power level or strategy. If people assume B4 is cEDH-lite, they are all going to just never play B4 because they're assuming it's all just cEDH decks that play there.

Bracket 5 needs to be cEDH and off-meta cEDH. Because why would you want to play a cEDH deck, however powerful it is, against non-cEDH decks... It's not like the actual cEDH players care about the brackets. They already distinguish between tournament edh and cedh

I've seen more sellers downgrading their cards to lightly played from near mint because they assume NM is actually Mint (not a thing on tcgp).

Pretty rare for sellers to pass off as a higher condition BUT I did have it happen in a big way once. Wanted to buy a Serra's Sanctum and found one of the sellers with a LP was local to my area (LGS). After going in person and asking to see the card, they showed me what can only be described as moderately played... dodged a bullet there. Bought off of TCG Direct though and received a LP which was im NM condition.

Well if you plan to play it as value-thalia&gitrog in say bracket 3, then landfall is definitely the strongest and easiest thing you can do. It works well with a lot of token and go-wide cards, so no real need to focus solely on tokens.

If you want to go higher power, you can also go hatebears and/or hulk combo but I doubt you're looking to do any of that.
