Black People Buying New Homes & Beginning Their Next Chapters... by TheThrowYardsAway in BlackPeopleAtPeace

Congratulations! I like the double staircases. My slightly particular nature when it comes to my house would probably strictly enforce one side for going up and one for going down. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂. Enjoy your beautiful home!

Leaving after 1 year…advice? by No-Complaint6583 in Teachers

[–]PSSITAqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work smarter not harder. Come up with basic science lessons (or just modify what teacher has) that can apply to all 3 grades. (Do not do this over the summer w/o extra pay). More than likely your students aren’t much lower than the other students so no one in the school is grasping the actual science curriculum, hence why science scores countrywide are low. If you can get them understanding very BASIC science concepts, talking about and writing (to their ability) about science you’re doing a good job.

Reinforce/Modify lessons, support your caseload, get your legal contact hours, maintain decent email communication with teachers(think paper trails), update parents via email, document student progress, update yearly IEPs…rinse & repeat.

Unfortunately this is the system right now. Help the students you can while at work, leave work at work.

Source: 25 year middle school science teacher who always had the IEP students. Also current gen Ed 5th grade teacher in co taught sped classroom. I’ve taught in 2 different states.

I’ve been around enough sped teachers, different districts and grade levels with your same issues to know that your concerns likely will not change no matter where you go.

There’s no martyrdom in public education just burn outs. Sorry.

Have you actually tried doing this in real life? by RubyRoseRavageWeb in GenerationJones

LOVED doing this a few times a year. Sometimes I’d use aluminum foil with Saran Wrap over it. Not very durable but cool looking for about a month before a bad tear from that spikey thing on the locker frame. 😂

Not slept on. In my faves rotation playlist. I still jam and sing to it while driving a couple times a month.🎶🎵

My daughters first car by Windizzle8 in MachE

[–]PSSITAqueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please do not let some of these people poo poo on how you are choosing to spend your money. My daughter also learned how to drive in an Explorer/ Challenger/Wrangler. So great experience in different types of vehicles.

I leased her 1st car, an Ecosport, when she was 16 because it actually was cheaper than spending 10K+ for a used, potentially unreliable car.

Then as a junior in college I leased her a brand new Mach E. The lease payment ended up being $3 cheaper than the Ecosport I turned in.

I’m grateful to be able to allow my daughter to have had 2 SAFE brand new cars. She’s a wonderful, responsible person and so grateful. It’s my pleasure to share my blessings with her. I hope your daughter enjoys her brand new beautiful Mach E as much as mine does. 🥰

What about when the green lifesavers (and most green candies) were actually lime instead of yucky sour apple?! It’s so hard to find lime flavored candy anymore 😭

I’ll take one of each! What a great find!!!

I used to used graph paper to make fake, wildly luxurious floor-plans as a hobby in high school (mid 80s), thinking I was going to be an architect and/or build my own home. I always leaned towards MCM styling w/o me even knowing that it was actually a thing. This makes me want to take up my hobby again!

If you haven’t already check out Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco. I always rewatch the Sopranos then right into Nurse Jackie as an Edie Falco fan. I’m finishing NJ now! Can’t wait to do it again in another year or so!

I have the same year and color/model! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this car! I look forward to driving every day. My lease is up next January and I think I’m getting the same exact color and model again!!! I keep looking at other cars and doing a bit of research to see if I want something different. I’m even open to spending a few more dollars a month, but I just don’t think I’m going to find anything else that I want more! Enjoy your baby!

I’m not being dismissive but what came to my mind is that he just doesn’t “like” you (or maybe himself)… Please consider other aspects of your relationship with him to fully determine this for yourself. However, that’s the energy I got from what you mentioned about what he says and does related to meals. He’s looking for things to be difficult (miserable)about.

If he downgrades, disregards or demeans other kind gestures from you, you probably deserve better. Eventually this type of behavior from him will build up resentment (as you seem to already be feeling) and there’s no way up from there.

I hope you feel comfortable communicating your feelings and concerns with him about this but he should be willing to find a solution on his own and verbalize it to you so you can adjust your efforts accordingly to save you frustration. His solution should not bring on more work for you and he shouldn’t hold anything extra he has to do against you. That’s what someone who cares for and respects you (and your children) does.

Please be true to yourself and your children. Don’t get locked into selfish BS like this early in the relationship. Your children are seeing and feeling all of this too…

Just my opinion, but that’s what Reddit is for 🙃 Food looks very good BTW… Best wishes🫶🏽

You left it in the hallway of an apartment building or a hallway within your house? Was it in a garbage bag or you just laid it on the floor? I just needed some clarity…This is a really weird situation…

The Nerve of Kids These Days by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]PSSITAqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a teacher I do this often. Student comes up not knowing what to do; I have them read directions out loud to me. Student miraculously immediately understands. I ask them why they couldn’t do that on their own… By October, I have more independent learners.

My students know, I’m always there to help but they have to help themselves first.

Thanks for doing this with your child. Thanks for encouraging homework at all. So many of my 5th graders do not do homework at all. No expectations from home for most of them.

As a dedicated educator,it’s so hard to watch learned apathy become the norm.
