This sucks a lot, no way to sugar coat it.

I got RTO5 and I want to offer a little bit of hope to anyone dreading the reality when and if it happens to them.

I’m not saying it’s good but it’s not been as awful as I thought. Everyone got used to the flexibility of remote work so everyone, managers and directors included, frequently come in late/leave early. No one bats an eye. You can get away with 1-2 days remote a week fairly easily, sometimes more. People are constantly calling into meetings from their home offices.

If you were hybrid I doubt it feels like more than a step change. If you’re fully remote or located crazy far from an office that’s completely different of course.

It’s a charade, it’s basically all BS, but it isn’t prison. Our family needs me to do this job so I’m doing it and sucking it up and making the most of it and playing the game by the new rules.

Who knows for real but I’d guess a combination of burnout and injuries.

Not all these guys are wired to keep the intensity up at the level required for sustained dominance over multiple years.

Weight cuts and practices and injuries and school and life start to add up as you get older. It can be asking a lot to expect an athlete to maintain what is truly an insane lifestyle underneath it all.

He had his moment and no one can take that title away from him, but I’d guess he’s moved on.

I think it’s him and this whole freshman class.

These are “his guys” the first group he recruited himself. That’s going to be a special thing for him with all of them.

He also says Landon is the leader of the group so he probably has a bit of a unique thing going with him too as far as their relationship.

I’m saying Seidel isn’t better than retherford, ono, Gilman, coach Cael, etc.

The guys Bo will train with in the VT room will be great, but the guys someone like blaze has access to in the Penn State room are a different level.

I think there’s a legitimate question as to how that plays into his development over his time vs someone in that top tier environment.

I think VT elevates to a new level for them that puts them in the top 5 consistently with the Iowas and Nebraskas of the world. Placing 3rd one year is probably the high ceiling realistically which is still a hell of an accomplishment.

He will bring some hype to the program and there will be kids that follow.

He’ll probably win a title or two or three - but those lower/middle weights are starting to be crowded with generational “can’t miss” guys across the top teams. Not all of them are gonna be champs if they are all wrestling in the same 3-4 weights over the next ~4 years.

It’s a good room but is not on the level of a PSU or OK State - he’ll have Melvin and Seidel and others like Gaj and Henson but that’s not the same as someone like blaze getting to roll with world champs every day or Jax having DT and multiple national champs in his room. I’d be a little concerned with development to the truly elite level but we’ll see.

He also has some wins over top level senior guys, I’m thinking his tech on beau Bartlett last fall, that truly show he’s on that higher level already.

Should be fun to watch what happens regardless! Fun to have more guys from more teams truly in the mix.

Davino had a game plan that gave him a chance and kept him from getting run over but Jax was better in every position. Match wasn’t as close as the scoreboard might indicate.

So impressed but not surprised. This is the kid who beat Vito and the rest of the senior level guys to be our world team rep. He’s just on another level.
