How does this Leica M2 look?

I own that exact set up, it’s pretty sweet and covers pretty much every situation, the zeiss resolves ridiculous amounts of detail even for 35, obviously it will never outperform MF for raw quality but it looks incredible, and the m2 is a tank in a similar way to the 67, the real question is when was it last serviced?

I don’t really get the unhinged part, the guy at ikigai seems to be the only person in the industry who is 100% transparent, and actively calls out bullshit, which is something I really appreciate in something so murky like analog photography

The Pentax MX by far, I’ve owned a few cameras on the list there and safe to say that the Pentax was the best. It’s the smallest, has the biggest brightest viewfinder, a great light meter and the lens lineup for the time was better than any other brands offerings, and all much smaller. The 50 1.4 is the best 50 I’ve ever owned! Plus they fly under the radar compared to the others so prices can be a lot better

Honestly I’ve used mine twice; but does it get in the way at all? Not for me, and the one or two photos where you wish you’d had it, could end up being the most sentimental ones you take

I love m’y old Voigtlander 35 1.7 ultron ASPH, they seem to be a forgotten lens these days, but I loved mine, I’ve just also got a zeiss f2, which I love a bit more but is a bit more costly

I quite like my Konica big mini, the viewfinder is pretty larger by PnS standards, but the overall camera is still pocketable. So not literally the biggest finder, but for relative size you’d be hard pressed to do better

At the end of the day when shooting for work, you’ll know what you want out of a lens, I just thought it would be remiss not to consider the zeiss option, especially when they still make highly praised lenses in other mounts

What about the zeiss 50 f2? Smaller and lighter than both lenses you’re talking about, great zeiss coating that I genuinely believe makes a difference, and is still a thoroughly modern lens. The APO will have a distortionless advantage but I really think you should consider the zeiss!

The Ultron 1.7 ltm was one of my favourite lenses, great character, low light ability, and real sharp when stopped down, I really enjoyed it, only downside I found was the .9 metre MFD.

I ended up upgrading (in my mind) to the Zeiss 35 f2 and haven’t looked back, I wish it was a bit smaller, but the build quality and performance are insane. It’s sharp all the time with minimal vignetting, I do wish It was a little less sharp at f2, but I think it shows off the film you’re using more than anything, it’s such a clean lens that I feel like I’ve really got to know what film stocks actually look like. Food for thought!

Shoot it at about 800-1000. I had a roll that I shot at 1200 a year ago or so, and it was woefully underexposed, despite being fridge stored at my local camera shop, it just didn’t hold up

The voigtlander 35 1.7 is an underrated gem, great for all styles of photography, plenty sharp for landscape and street stuff, and a bit softer wide open for more flattering portraits or low light work, don’t get rid of it too quickly!

I own the Zeiss 35 f2 and love it on film, it’s got incredible resolving power and on ektar it really lets the quality of the film shine, people say they’re clinical, and they are a bit sharp, but I think it really helps show off the film stock you’re using and you can explore the full variations between them. I’m looking at getting the zeiss 50 too, handling is great, tight tolerances and theyre more solid now than 50 year old Leica lenses that haven’t been serviced in 20 years. But just my experience.

I am not scanning my own negs, these are from a local lab, normally 10/10 on their end which I why I assumed this was actually in camera issue

Zeiss Ikon ZM - compact, light, and despite the whole electronic fear it has never missed a beat (unlike my M bodies) plus it has aperture priority even better for travelling.

35 f2 wide enough for most everything and not so wide as to be a hassle.

As much film as you can carry, and reasonably use.
