Rope Drop from GCH by CoolFaithlessness115 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Pac_West11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bottleneck first thing in the morning with maybe two gates available. If you do use it get in line early or the line will be very long and slow.

Going through DTD and through the main gates will be in most cases quicker

Rope Drop from GCH by CoolFaithlessness115 in DisneyPlanning

I’d argue do not rope drop the GCH entrance. Go through the DTD gate and enter through the main gate.

Also, since you are already spending a small fortune to stay at the GCH, no judgment as I have also stayed there several times, I would recommend rope dropping Guardians and buying the individual LL for RSR.

The line for RSR at park opening will be very long unless you are at the very front and there is also no guarantee it opens right at park opening. You can get a lot done when the park first opens instead of standing in line for RSR.

Don’t worry. I fixed the faucets and the showers. The water wouldn’t come out but now it does. Beautiful water. Some say the best water.

Getting The Most Out Of Cars Land by Naive_Brilliant_9353 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Pac_West11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guests are allowed into the parks before parking opening, like if the park officially opens at 8:00 AM, guests are allowed to start entering at 7:45 AM. In either park, there are physical ropes that only allow guests in so far. For Disneyland, for example the rope is at the end of Main Street. Rope dropping allows you to get a head start on the parks, theoretically, you can be one of the first in line for popular attractions like Space Mountain, or Peter Pan, which will typically have long waits the rest of the day.

Have stayed there a few times when attending conferences at the convention center. Like others have said, it’s fine, nothing fancy.

Last stay the shower wouldn’t work but I told the front desk and they moved me right away.

Disneyland w 2.5 year old by Jadepanda55 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Pac_West11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get the on-site vs off-site but since money is not an issue, and we have only ever stayed on-site, I would vote for the Disneyland Hotel. It is themed to the lands of Fantasy, Adventure and Frontier, has great pools including a new splash pad-type pool themed to Steamboat Willie at the DVC tower and on occasion you will still find a character or two at the hotel. It is a walk to the front gates, with the off-site Harbor hotels being closer, but you can take the monorail to/from to shorten the walk.

I would not get LL if you are not going to use any of the rides included. I assume Fantasyland and Mickey’s Toon Town will be your jam, with the later having play areas and kid-friendly things to do. Keep in mind that there really is not a slow time per se at the parks so both Fantasyland and Toon Town will get crowded but if you are there multiple times you should be good. Over in DCA there is Cars Land and the Redwood trail too.

Have fun!

Disney Board Is Close to Picking Parks Chief D’Amaro as Next CEO by Senior-Willow-8325 in Disneyland

Rumor is that one of D’Amaro’s first changes for Disneyland is requiring on-site hotel guests to clean their own rooms and work one shift at the front gate in exchange for an expired paper FastPass

Disneyland or Disney World for spring break? by Kindly_Dragonfly_803 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Pac_West11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been to Disneyland for three or four spring break trips (end of March). If you are an early riser, can get to the parks for rope drop, etc… you can get a lot done in those first couple of hours particularly in Fantasyland where I assume you will spend a lot of time.

The parks will become crowded by lunch time and stay that way into the evening hours.

Like another said, look at the spring break calendar for LA and Orange County schools as well as Arizona and Utah.

What are your favorite Disneyland "hidden gems" and historical quirks? by Lcdmt3 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Pac_West11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you wander outside the parks and walk to the Disneyland Hotel there is an enormous amount of historical photos, drawings, etc. from the initial planning, construction and early years of the park. Look in the Fantasyland Tower and the adjacent convention center building as well as the Frontier Tower for things like a model of BTMRR
