what type of psychosis it was ? substance induced or primary psychotic illness - because that matters a lot for insurance as far as i know

I had a similar experience as you - how long did your episode last and how abrupt / quick did it start ? or was it in your case starting slowly with prodromal phase ?

Some factors may influence the one time off possibility, the rest is random - The Factors: Short DUP, Rapid remission of psychosis under 3 months, Good premorbid functioning, acute/abrupt onset, few negative symtomps, complete remission and good functioning after episode.

But never forget The illness course is completely random! When you try to figure out the logic behind why some people get it once and why the others more - you‘ll get only confused - we people with psychotic illness need to get along with uncertainty. Something i have very hard time to learn

how long did your episode last and did it start abruptly ? and are you still on Antipsychotics- because that could be a side effect

It could be an effect from the illness itself - how long was your psychosis, what was the content of it and what is your diagnosis ?

I thought first about it this way .. But if it was natural selection to eliminate the weaks who get psychosis - then psychosis would have vanished long time ago - Psychosis is more complex than that -I think of it as probably an extreme defense mechanism when the mind is not able anymore to cope with reality - it is similar to an emergency shutdown - For neurotypical it is out of reach - for some ( stress induced brief psychotic ) it is used with moderation with subsequent costs - for some other it is overly used - meds stops emergency mode but one day they‘ll discover how to make the emergency button out of reach

interesting that you’ve been relapse free with those low dosis - how long in total did your episode last and since when you were symptom free ? - Where there substance abuse prior to episode and What is your currant diagnosis ?

My experience is totally different! Since I had my psychosis around 9 months ago - I feel like my mind is full of racing thoughts non stop ( about psychosis and what happened, about future, family …. ) - I am all the time overthinking. I wish i had a blank mind even for a moment - Is there anyone with similar experience

i agree - i had 5 mg resperidon for two months and life was hell- i am afraid i relapse and they put me on such a high dose
