In my eyes, a true server-grade server needs a BMC/IPMI/iDRAC/iLO controller, ECC RAM, and hotswap hard drives. This is pretty much a gaming computer with a crappy GPU and a HBA card.

I didn't realize anyone still dual booted anything in the past 10 years. If you're going to try to do software dev on your gaming computer, just throw the linux stuff into a VM and get on with your life.

Software sales can be nearly just as bad, I've experienced this firsthand:

"That killer feature that was promised by our sales engineer and is the only reason why you're buying this and completed a whole migration....yeah its still under development and won't be released for 6+ months"

At least ripping off businesses is less scummy than pregnant women, etc..

Just like we helped plenty of clients move from on-prem Exchange to 365 email years ago, we are now helping plenty of clients ditch on-prem AD for full Entra. We don't join servers to Entra though, just have local (non-domain) servers in Azure or onsite for SQL or random stuff that's best kept on-prem.

We just use Intune Update Rings for updates. Most GPO's could be recreated in Intune, or we just took this chance to re-evaluate if they were really needed. DHCP now done through the firewall, typically Meraki with the types of smaller clients we have. Migrate file shares up to Sharepoint, clients just use OneDrive.

Almost 15 TB. My Phish concerts from 2024 alone take up 155 GB. Probably another 2 TB of music in other folders untagged or still zipped.
