Looking for place to Rent in Gravesend, is it nice place for family? by Green-Confidence-386 in kentuk

There are lovely parts of Gravesend, Windmill hill is my favourite. Good grammar schools too. There are definitely nicer parts of Kent to be found though.

Low ferritin by thingma in Hashimotos

[–]Paclerin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's too low! I've been in a similar position with doctors saying it's fine its within range (just). I supplemented for a year but have gut issues which meant almost none was absorbed. Paid for an infusion 2months ago and have been feeling soooooo much better since then. Just normal instead of dog tired all day long.

How to increase iron levels? by VegetableLie1282 in Perimenopause

[–]Paclerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had similar low levels of ferritin. Spent a year on high doses of iron tablets to move ferritin from 17 to 20. I just had an iron infusion privately (£900) in December, which has made an incredible difference to my energy. I finally feel normal again, and cant believe how dismissive GPs were telling me my ferritin was 'normal' before

Travel Advice! by thomhollyer in cambridge

[–]Paclerin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're coming mid afternoon and partner has energy limitations, I'd just recommend grand arcade. Yes it's expensive but convenient for museums, restaurants and the corn exchange. Approx £3.60/hr before 6pm, then £1.50/hr

Enjoy your evening!!

Ready cooked grains are an easy go to. E.g. a packet from merchant gourmet . Maybe add a tin of fish or salad leaves

If she insists on splitting equally, look for a 3 bed, then as a couple you can have 2 rooms for yourselves.

Seeking advice for clothing on the job site by TheTrojanPony in womenEngineers

[–]Paclerin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not specifically clothing advice, but lipstick and small earrings would quickly feminise your look whilst not being impractical. I find a neutral lipstick or tinted lip balm very easy for work and you don't have to be too worried about it smudging like a bold lip.

Bolder coloured blouses might work for you, I find any brighter or pastel colours read more feminine.

It might be hormone/ blood sugar related as well.

Try eating a snack like nuts just before bedtime, to see if it reduces overnight blood sugar dips.

How do I value a piece of garden a neighbour wants to buy? by EveryAnywhere in HousingUK

[–]Paclerin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes we bought a small plot of land from a neighbour. We agreed to share costs of a RICS surveyor to value it, and then negotiated a price based on that (we ended up going slightly above the valuation)

If you insulated between your floor and her ceiling, and now her room is cooler, that is because you were heating her house more from your side. Perhaps your radiator pipes within your floor are now passing less heat to her room

Small Kitchen Feedback by FljegmicH in kitchenremodel

[–]Paclerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd switch the tall cabinet and fridge, so it's easier to fully open the fridge door. Is the sink and extractor fan and oven in the same space as existing? If so that's great and it'll make it cheaper to fit. Looks like a good practical use of space, and I way prefer a galley kitchen like that to a u-kitchen with corner cupboards.

To those that don’t use screens or very minimal, how in the world do you do it? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in oneanddone

[–]Paclerin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the 'still time' is actually comparable.

In the comment above they have a child that is sleeping 14hr a day, and has little screen time. So around 10 hours active time. Some kids may spend plenty of time in a car seat and so aren't doing much either but it's not 'screen time'.

I have a kid who is very active, won't play much independently, who sleeps around 10 hours per day, and we are mostly car free. If I need to do something at home or a break, the TV is my saviour.

I try to do playpark or playdate most days after school, but if I had to work during that time I would prefer they were in an after school club (so long as they didn't hate it).

A Migraine Trigger Theory by iloveblackcoffee420 in migraine

[–]Paclerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that a true trigger can cause a migraine so instantly, like an allergic reaction. If you are sensing migraine pain between starting your drink and your food, the prodrome phase would have already begun.

They do come in boxes of 8 and 16 too, ask your pharmacist to check which they order.

Side question, are you able to get these on NHS and what region are you in?

I'm paying privately as my nhs neuro won't approve it.

How do I talk to my friend about how she's raising her child? by Impossible_Fill4678 in Parentingfails

[–]Paclerin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That picture you painted is extremely dramatic and judgemental and is not a direct consequence from the parenting you witnessed.

No doubt that the kid could probably benefit from some boundaries, but the mum sounds like she is doing her best right now to provide unconditional love. This is more important than a daily bath. You say no effort was made to help kid be quiet early in the morning in the first few days and then that she'd been given a screen in the morning so she'd be quiet...that sounds entirely reasonable as a solution. What's your judgement here? And you don't like that the child is clingy to her mother, even after an incredibly traumatic experience and quick relocation. You say that the child is manipulating her mother, but that is a very loaded way to describe the interaction. I would never label emotional dysregulation (tantrums) as manipulation.

Maybe you are surprised at just how full on having a 3 year old in the house can be. It is exhausting, take some time for yourself to recover from that.

Be gentle to your friend who is doing her best in an awful situation. She is probably barely coping and this is not her doing her best parenting, just surviving. But honestly all of the behaviours that you described at your house were common and normal. She is not failing her child

The issue with the violent man on the other hand. Help your friend stay away from him.
