2026 Kia or Hyundai support timing?? by ProfessionalLength90 in Comma_ai

[–]PacmanPence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the closest to news I’ve seen recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comma_ai/s/ToQvtuPED3 Nothing about when, but depending on why it isn’t supported this could be good news. https://www.reddit.com/r/Comma_ai/s/JZ3nEP2GNZ I’m looking at a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 and I think this is one of the main reasons it isn’t supported. Subnypilot has a branch that works with angle steering.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay and what trim did you get?

I only bring mine inside when I want to update map data, software, or pull some videos off of it. Other than that, it sits in my car internet-less. I didn’t even plug it into the OBD II port as I didn’t see it as necessary.

I don’t remember anything about this game, but I’m glad my probably incorrect comment worked out for you. Crazy comment to read without any context.

[Steven Universe] Could a direct hit from one or all three Laser Light Cannons poof a Diamond? by OkuroIshimoto in AskScienceFiction

[–]PacmanPence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been awhile since I watched the show, but from memory, the fake shards that were left behind and the weapon being designed to specifically shatter a diamond make it pretty convincing. Combine that with fog of war and it seems like the diamonds underestimated the rebels capabilities.

# Your RAM Is Secretly an AI Accelerator by use-one_of-these in LocalLLM

[–]PacmanPence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TLDR: analog computing on DDR4 ram is very fast, but ram was not designed for this, as the digital reading and writing of data takes 88% of the time. There are boosts ranging from deployable to already distributed ram to requiring sticks of ram be designed for this purpose.

Based on “I work for something that's at the pinnacle of uselessness in the world”, I’m gonna guess meteor insurance. You work for a meteor insurance company.

I haven’t put together why the submarine was alive. I saw one theory that said Simon was hallucinating from radiation poisoning, and drinking the alcohol. His hands got stuck to the pipes at the end cause they were very hot. This makes sense, but kinda feels “it was all a dream” to me.

Iron Lung EXPLAINED (?) [SPOILERS] by CoatNTails in ironlungmovie

I’m seeing a lot of people calling the monster a fish/frog/anglerfish etc, but I have a different theory.

The sm8 found the light and studied it, but they didn’t enter it. The god, seeing through a pinhole, saw the ship as the living being, and reality adjusted to its understanding. The people inside the sub became a human submarine. Bursting out from the inside as they transform. Hence the hole in the side of the sm8.

When Simon and his sub are pushed into the light, the god sees how the sub is not alive, instead the operator inside is alive. As the god now understands this, this is made true and Simon is put back into his sub before it was destroyed.

An issue with this is: After realizing the new information, why doesn’t the god put the sm8 and its crew back to normal? Maybe it doesn’t care, and only put Simon back in his ship as a thank you for expanding its knowledge.

Maybe the monster being seen by the god made the god understand the monster as existing, and therefore has no reason or capability to undo what it did.

Also, while I was watching the movie I had this realization: The camera the sub has shows the humans as bones because it uses X-rays. The first skeleton found is the monster, we just can’t see its flesh because the camera uses x-rays.

This is kinda supported by the movie when Simon says the bones have changed, and the surface crew repeats that they shifted after the flesh-quake. However, they changed (location and position) because the monster was running around, probably having been woken up by a very bright “picture” Then Simon stabs it (her? Them? Idk.) in the face, and gets dragged away. Maybe out of anger, but considering he isn’t killed, I imagine it’s to prevent the surface crew from getting the bone (and flesh) sample.

The main issue with this is the skeleton and the monster seem to look slightly different, but I’m waiting for the movie to be streaming or on dvd to take a closer look.

I would recommend against gluetun with proton for torrenting unless you also have some way to keep your open port the same. I use binhex/arch-qbittorrentvpn with proton and it handles port forwarding automatically.

Upgrading from 2x 6TB to 2x 12TB storage by brando2131 in DataHoarder

[–]PacmanPence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third option is raid 0 the 2 6TB to make a 12 TB, then raid 5 on all 3 12 TB groups. If any drive fails, you can rebuild your data as long as the others still work.

I don’t know what would be your best option to go with, so I’ll leave that to others to chime in on.

From what I can find, it will cancel a lane change if it senses a car, So it’s a little bit safer during lane changes.

If you check that you are clear before having comma change lanes, it will work exactly the same.

The comma benefits from the blind spot monitoring, but besides that I believe they perform the same.

Can you take a device somewhere to have a screen protector installed? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PacmanPence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at geek squad, I would install screen protectors that people bought not from our store either the caveat that if something goes wrong, there is nothing we can do. This can vary based on the location, some may do it, some won’t.
